Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
I would like to start a WIP on how to make photorealistic architectural visualizations using any available techniques imaginable. There are a couple of works I had seen that are very hard to distinguish from actual photos. Making these renders to look so believable has already become an art in itself.
I chose the Farnsworth house because there are a lot of very nice renders of it and photographs to compare with. The model of the house I am using was made by Peter Guthrie and it can be downloaded from his blog. My heartfelt thanks to him for sharing such a wonderful detailed model. He made a number of very realistic visualizations using the same model.
At the moment I'm using Sketchup, indigo renderer, GIMP and Motiva Real Camera. I maybe switching to other software packages if necessary.
Some initial renderings, I prepared yesterday:

Re: Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
good evening sir i like your images for the fansworth house...just like to know sir if the grasses and trees are also part of the 3d sketchup that you made with the house like there is a material to create those grasses and vegetation or are those done in photoshop...and is indigo renderer is a better software than vray for sketchup because now im using that software and right now i can't make a presentation as good as those of yours with the indigo render....thanks and good luck.....

@ archki_rain
Thanks Sir! Ang grass and trees sa scene are all 3d models. It may look impossible to do in sketchup because with all those 3d models it would definitely crash. But there is a method I'm using to scatter thousands or even millions of objects in a scene without crashing sketchup. It is called instancing. Information about this method can be found here: http://www.cgpinoy.org/environment-landscaping-f50/massive-environments-in-sketchup-t11267.htm
Right now I cannot say if Indigo is better than VRay. Both are capable of producing really good images. Since I used both software, the only difference between them is that the default settings in indigo are already set at high quality. So when I click the render icon, it will produce the same quality of renders seen here.

@ jarul
Maganda at high quality yung model.

Salamat Sir! Hindi pa naman masyado, I am still in the process of learning the pasikotsikot of this software.Galaites07 wrote:wow....mukhang gamay mo na ang Indigo...first time ko nakita result sa Ronen GH challenge and ikaw yung second na best user keep it up bro.

@rangalua - Maraming salamat Sir!
Kanina nagpractice ako ng post production using Picassa photo editor.

Sir,
Very interesting at promising yung technique na "instancing". Ito po ba ay set-up sa modelling stage o setting to na gagawin mo sa rendering na? and will this work for indigo lang? Thanks sir!
Sana maka-gawa ka ng tutorial nito.
Napakagaling!

Re: Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
Sir Canadium,
Wow! thanks for the info. Made me so excited!
I think I need Indigo as an alternative rendering plugin. Oops! Will SU allow multi-rendering plugin (say Vray and Indigo installed at the same time?)
Thanks for your time.

You're welcome Sir! I'll be uploading some evening scenes of the Fansworth house shortly.

Cheers!
Re: Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
Some updates on the progress of work.
I am still looking for the right furniture inside that must match the reference images I have of the house. I have some trouble looking for free 3d models of those furnishings. So instead of wasting my time looking, I just decided for the meantime to just use ordinary stuff to throw inside. I just used some chairs and tables I got from the GH House model I downloaded and some free stuff from the google 3d warehouse.
On this set, I made some evening and early morning scenes.

Re: Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
I am assuming you are using the free version of Indigo kasi may logo stamp parin. Do you think if license version sya you can get a sharper and cleaner renders? kasi most of the output na nakita ko eh medyo grainy ang images.
How about for interior renders, is Indigo capable of going at par with Vray?
Salamat sir.

Yung mga noisy/grainy images are the results of low light settings or of a rendering done quickly. Ibang method kasi ang pagrender ng indigo. It will keep on rendering until all image noise is cancelled out. This may take several minutes or hours or even days depending on the lights on the scene. Ang mga exterior daytime scenes ang pinakamabilis irender while night scenes are the longest to render.
May mga ipo-post ako dito. Salamat Sir.
jarul wrote:nice..galing po ng update,,

Salamat Sir!

Thank you Sir!
Re: Arch Viz Study - The Farnsworth House (Updates with settings)
Some interior test scenes with sunny and cloudy skies. Some evening scenes will follow later. Ni-rerender ko pa.
