Nikon D40 or Canon EOS400D?

Help me decide po mga maam and sir. I'll be buying my first DSLR soon. Not for professional use naman ang aking hinahabol sa DSLR but for capturing the moment lang po.

Nagpapasalamat din ako sa mga sirs na nagbigay ng mga info nila in my other post.

i'm not a big fan of Ken Rockwell but he has a point in saying that d40 is better in terms of usability.

if its just about the camera body, i'd go for 400d. but there is a bigger picture to consider.

before you decide, think of what lense/s you will need to buy. for example, a D40 + 18-200mm VR would be a good nikon combination. see whether canon can beat this combo in terms of performance-to-price points. i'm just giving you an idea how to do your homework when faced with this kind of scenario.

other points worth considering:
- ergonomics (try both models and see which one wraps around your hands comfortably)
- what do your friends have (borrowing their lenses/accessories at equips you in making informed decisions on your next purchase at no cost).
- long/short term investment. canon's lenses are quite picky (dx lenses for dx bodies only) while nikon's lenses can be fitted with any nikon body regardless of whether it's dx or full frame, old or new. there are so much points to talk about this matter.

then just toss the coin, take this exercise as
disposable. getting into shooting mode asap is more important than thinking

dun ka na sa D40. sabi mo before me kaibigan ka na nikon based ang setup - so just stick w nikon for now

suggestion lang.. don't take it against me ah..

why not mag ipon ka muna bago ka bumili ng camera..
dahil nature ng tao na ma-addict sa new gadget nya..
lalo kung mey mga tao sa paligid mo na "so into photography" ..
mabibitin ka lang sa specs ng camera na bibilin mo kung "malumaluma" ang pipiliin mo..

maniwala ka sa akin .. hindi totoo yun "not for professional use" .. dahil kahit NOT FOR PROFESSIONAL USE, e hahanap ka ng mas high tech sa kung ano man ang meron ka ..

lens wise and body capability wise pag pipili ka ng camera.
"FOR FUTURE USE" lagi ang iisipin mo..

hmm well the D40 is just a starter camera. para tumalon sa higher specs halos doble na babayaran mo (P28k para sa D3100) and well 4x pag higher na (D90 or D7000).
