32k vs 65k salary
Hi cgp!
My friend just got an offer to work abroad (singapore). The company is offering her 65k pesos, starting salary. She's currently earning 32k here in the Philippines. I'm also curious if this does worth..
Thanks!

If the details here are true
http://www.orientexpat.com/singapore/cost-of-living
then a minimum cost of 800 - 900 SGD (900.0 SGD = 30647.4955214 PHP as of 24th 5月 2012) will fly out of your pocket to cover your subsistence. Di pa kasama ang padala mo.
If you ask me, it will look like you went out to Singapore for nothing at the expense of being separated from your loved ones in the Philippines.
Worth it?
I'd die to live in Baguio for cheap..

Re: 32k vs 65k salary
I agree with Sir V. But the 32k has a cost of living to consider too in terms of mathematics. Depende nalang talaga yan sa happiness level between the 2.

Good luck,
Re: 32k vs 65k salary
For me naman, kung single pa siya, I would take the offer, pero kung may family and kids na siya, medyo mag iisip ako ng twice or thrice. Babae pa naman friend mo

i haven't read through the link you provided Verts. 900SGD is not even within the minimum to qualify for a work permit (maybe for domestic helpers yes), not worth it. PHP65K/1,890SGD is just within the required to qualify a foreign talent for an S-pass--a good base to negotiate or as a starting pay to sustain a prudent lifestyle here. i can't comment on what kind of lifestyle as it's very subjective but let's just say it's workable . 1.8k SGD is normally offered to newly grads or newcomers (foreigners) but of course nothing stops one candidate for packaging himself to negotiate for a better expectation. it's ok to ask more but be true to your resume as it's easy to tell if you are falling short of the expectation.

Re: 32k vs 65k salary
Share ko lang experience ko.
I started out with 2K SGD (67K PHP) salary back in 2010.. Reasonable amount to survive here in SG pero sa tingin ko mababang amount ito for our profession.
Before you guys plan to come here, I would suggest to consider the cost of living..sobra mahal talaga, so kung iisipin, yung sinasahod ko dati sa Pinas at sinasahod ko dito sa SG versus cost of living at lahat ng gastusin halos maliit lang ang difference.
Bigay ko sample sa inyo ng Monthly budget ko when i was first earning 2K SGD:
1 SGD = 33.5 PHP
2. PUB (ilaw, tubig, internet-cable, gas other utilities) - 50 to 80 sgd (depende kung gaano kayo kagastos lalo na sa aircon)
3. REMITTANCE (padala sa pinas) - 800 sgd
4. MOBILE PHONEBILL - 60 SGD
5. ALLOWANCE + TRANSPO sa work - 300 to 400 SGD
yung matitira ipon at pangluho na lang.
So yan ung budget ko para sa tulad kong binata paano pa kung me pamilya kana?
Minimum meal price is 2-3 SGD (1 gulay +meat & rice)
drinks - 1-1.5 SGD
Yosi - 10 SGD
Alak - mahal sobra
Uwian naaah!

sangayon ako sa sinabi ni Sir!!100%
sa pinas as you get older you build strong career and good names and you can continue it for your whole life. if wala kang plan magstay sa singapore for good at babalik ka so pano pagbalik mo? dapat malaki maipon mo.
the reality is as your salary increase your expences will increase as well.
ako if i can have 40k jan a month sa pinas happy na ako.
my family are OFW one thing we cant turn back is special time that we miss together.
but you can still try lang for 2 years wala naman sigurong mawawala. malay mo din!

Bali yong trabaho niya kasi dito is designing architect sa isang realty company and yong offer abroad is office-site coordinator. stressfull daw kasi work niya dito kaya gusto niya yong mas relaxing naman daw, haha.
She's single.

Being a site/project coordinator is more stressful than a designer in the office, as per experience.
For that salary here in Dubai, pwede na for a bachelor/single....take note the big difference NO TAX here. But that's a difference story..it's a ME country.
Re: 32k vs 65k salary
Re: 32k vs 65k salary
hi
kung may experience ka na, sige you can settle for 2.8k, tutal starting ka pa lang naman, that's the minimum wage required for our profession here sa ngayon ha. dati 2.5K ang usual 2 yrs ago
anything less than that is illegal, kaya wag mong patulan yang offer na yan, and don't forget, may tax ka pa
ung rent na 300 is very maswerte na dito at minsan apat kayo sa kwarto kaya 300, pahirapan sa banyo, sa toilet time, sa sampayan...hey i'm being realistic here
"common" running range ng room is from 500 up
dyan ka muna sa pinas, it's not worth to leave pinas for that offer.
ang mga bagong grad ng sg, doble ang sweldo sa mga professional from pinas, ikaw pa mag-tra-train sa kanila, take note
ano bang office yan at ma-blacklist
but double-check sa MOM, website ng sg government regarding salary again, pabago-bago rules nila
isa lang di magbabago sa liham kong ito..DON'T TAKE THE OFFER

Re: 32k vs 65k salary
to consider for expatriation dapat 3x the current amount ang tatanggapin mo. so in your case - 32kP x 3 = 96kP dapat. 2k is too low. you may survive with that amount - but not live a good life. at mababa lang maiipon mo with that. now kung ang offer mo is 2.5k and above, you can rethink.
pinas ka na lang, kasama mo na pamilya and friends mo, mura pa ang bilihin compared dito, pwede ka magpakalasing ng di nauubos pera mo, me jollibee, at me kanin at libreng gravy ang kfc.
on another note - we are supposed to be professionals in our field so if possible iwasan natin ung tumatanggap ng ganito kababang sahod. guard our value ika nga.

I been planning also next year to take the risk working in SG..Since my former office mate encourage me to apply there. Naguguluhan din ako kung magkano idedemand kong salary, i have 3 years work experience both in designing, detailing, 3d rendering, site supervision and now im licensed architect na. Natatakot din ako baka mapunta wala akong maipon since madami din akong nadidinig na mataas ang cost of living doon. What range of salary po pwede kung irequest based on my experience po? Thanks!.
