Box type of modern design houses in tropical countries

hello cgpians! my first time to post a topic and my intention is just to gain knowledge from anyone. napansin ko kasi na maraming magagandang napopost dito na exterior perspectives of modern houses. however im just curious about this type of design kasi napansin ko 'in' pa rin ang mga parapets and roof decks sa mga modern designs ngayon dyan sa pinas although i assume that most have sloped roof in the midst of those buildings.
would anybody enlighten me? kasi noon experience namin na medyo meticulous din i-maintain ang water proofing sa mga ganitong type specially for a bigger scale such as comm'l complex, etc. from issues of mildew, seepage and moist et al. kaya kung meron man kaming madesign minsan na res'l bldg, kahit gusto man naming iapply ay hesitant kami. how efficient are those acrylic polymers and those water proofing products now or how long do they lasts? although im aware at that time that there are technologies such as rigid waterproofings or ballasted roofs with some layers composed of materials such as epdm and many more i suppose, pero di naman kadali na iapply itong mga technologies na ito sa mga bahay na pagmamay-ari ng mga common owners at sa tingin ko depende rin kung available locally lalo sa rural areas. so tanong ko lang sa mga designers and the builders also if some of you are experiencing troubles when having a project with such design on your building's apexes and how do you deal with it?

Same old problem pa din naman ang waterproofing. Actually major problem pa din. But with the new technology at more suppliers. Cheaper na ang waterproofing ngayon compared dati. Madami na ding options. Meron pa din yung sinusunog. Meron din yung layers ang application at meron din yung mix na sa cemento. Minsan hybrid ang ginagawa para mas protected. Meron na din palang pintura.

Pero if kayang magroofing, mas ok na option yun, less hassle.

BUT. Mas masarap tumambay sa roofdeck.

ganyan din ang sabi ng mga kaibigan ko kapag nakikita ko mga projects nila na may ganyang mga elemento ng disenyo nila, na nagkakaproblema pa rin talaga. kaya dinadaan ko na lang sa kantyaw kung bakit meron pa rin silang ganung design? ang mahirap lang kapag may tagas na, ang nasisisi madalas ng mga owners ay yung mga builders.
affordable din naman dati yung mga waterproofing materials. magkakatalo na nga lang kung ilang beses na lang masisira ang waterproofing. preferable pa naman na kapag may problema na ay babakbaking buo yung luma tapos aapplyan ulit para seamless ang system.
BUT TRUE. you're right bokkins masarap tumambay sa roofdeck. more expensive nga lang to extend your stairs to the top of your building. otherwise provision of balcony na lang sa taas ng carport or any open space ang mas mabuting recommendation sa mga clients na gusto ng deck. in that way sira man ang waterproofing, wala namang masisirang kisame. thanks bokkins for the info. more power!

so far sa experience namin mas effective pa rin yung membrane. Sinubukan namin dati yung pinapahid lang, pagkatapos ng project tumagas na. Ang mga structures kasi gumagalaw yan, maybe minimial lang yung hindi mo mapapansin. Once na gumalaw ang structure at nagkaroon ng maliit na crack sa topping nya, ayun tatagas na. Kaya mas prefer namin yung membrane. Flexible siya

i agree whey. structural movement, vibrations from equipments na rin sometimes if you have, are causes of failures ng waterproofing. dahil na rin sa weather exposure kaya kung nag-expand din ang concrete, apektado rin ang waterproofing. imo dahil rin sa extreme exposure, waterproofing easily gets brittle. ang ulan pa naman minsan sunod-sunod na araw tapos sunod-sunod na araw din na mainit ang temperatura. so dapat siguro natin iconsider high heat resistance na rin.

tfs whey! by the way, yung material na ginamit nyo kayo ba nag-install or may accredited installer yung manufacturer/distributor? how about warranty? do you have info about the lifespan of that material?
