Re: NATURE & LANDSCAPES
sharing "The Last Sunrise of 2010"
taken 31Dec2010 at Punggol End
It's been a long while since I shot my last landscape. Reason being that I was shooting in APS-C back then that my wide-angle lens (17-35mm) is cropped to become a 24-70mm. I felt that every shooting opportunity is a waste if landscapes like these are shot with normal focal lengths. Having upgraded to full frame recently enables my 17-35mm to capture landscapes in full glory. Not as wide as the 10-11mm's but sufficient enough to qualify my shots as landscape photographs. With this I reckon 2011 will be a year of landscape photography for me specially in Punggol (where I stay) since the Punggol-21 masterplan is coming close to reality. This site--Punggol End, is part of the masterplan. Although still, there are construction works going on, the promenade is already accessible to public.
If I were to comment on my own image, I would prefer a well-exposed foreground instead of the vignette. The challenge in this shot was that I wasn't able to utilize my ND filters as I am yet to purchase a ring adaptor for my current lense. I used it for my kit lens before with a smaller diameter. That lense I have already sold away. But I already got it (adaptor) and we'll see how it goes on my forthcoming landscapes, with that note am very excited already on my next sunrise trip to Punggol End.

Hanep!Naka FX na! Na excite naman ako sir.hehehe. Envy mode.
Tapos naka 17-35.wow!For me tamang tama lang yan. 10-11 is too much for me lalo na kung FX na body mo. Tama ba?
Anyway CONGRATS sir sa bagong toy!Nice Christmas gift. Nice landscape here.
By the way, anong nakuha nyo sir? Let me guess....hmmmm.D3X?
edit:

anyways yun talaga objective ko even before ko binili yung 17-35, a future fx body for better tonal range, ISO handling and bigger viewfinder. i still keep my old d80 for flexibility on focal range. according to Ken Rockwell pang spoiled brats lang ang D3x kaya I ended up with D700.

like this effect Lee! does your lense have hyperfocal distance marker? medyo blurry na kc ung background. i set my lense to infinity to achieve maximum focus overall.

Re: NATURE & LANDSCAPES
@Sir Glen-Matagal ko na talagang gustong magkaroon ng FX body but some circumstances draw me back para bumili. Anyway, i hope someday. We'll see.hehehe.
Im really into Alpha850. Ang habol ko talaga is yung high megapixel(mahilig kse akong mag crop, hehe). Like what sir celes said, hobbyist like me don't need high fps which is dun lang ako medyo disappointed,so makes sense and at least full frame na din at hindi pa ganun kamahal. But!, if I'm going to have unlimited resources, I will definitely buy the sweet D3X.hahaha.!in my dreams!
Nice unit sir. d700s high ISO rocks! really rocks!and many more features.Ganda sa concert nyan.hehe. Enjoy!!!
@lee-Lee Filters here?hahaha.Nice! I don't have those big stoppers yet pero isa yan sa mga must buy ko.
With sony, wala kaming hyperfocal distance marker. Mano mano ang ginagawa ko. Set to MF then adjust ko lang focusing ring to infinity.

Re: NATURE & LANDSCAPES
Jeff, i'm so impressed by the 850's reviews. 25megapixel is definitely a good new year's resolution to set hehe
yup the marker i'm referring to is at the focusing ring. nikkor lenses varies, some with and some without distance-infinity markers. sa bagay somewhere sa dulo lang naman un. ako rin ayoko na magcompute pa hehe
