vray light sphere setting inside is at 400 multiplier.





vray environments, all unchecked (HDRI map already covers this) - vray lc and ir map settings:

I didn't need it. It was there for experimentation based on peter guthrie's tutorial. Anyway if you want to use it, my setting is the default with 0.1 multiplier I think.

thanks for the settings celes just got confused... peter guthrie didn't use the environment menu of vray (he left it unchecked)... he used hdr/exr in vraydome light only... and after setting up the sun and applied his hack he also unchecked the vraysky in 3dsmax environment...

in your setup... what are the advantages of having hdr map in vray environment while at the same time you have hdr map in vraydome light? was it the same hdr's?

tama ka sir. nasanay lang ako na dindrag ung HDRI map dun sa environment and environment override slots.. pero yes, walang effect yun.

an advantage for putting the slot in the environment background siguro, is that the HDRI / EXR image remains visible kahit na naka invisible ang vray dome light. Pag naka visible kasi ung dome light, nagiging 1.0 ang alpha ng background and di ko maadjust unless I have to render a separate alpha pass.

@sir Valiant to add; I slap my exr on max's native environment slot for orientation of the sun too, nakikita ko visually whats happening sa BG ko plus I use the exrs themselves as BG na rin, hindi ko na kino-comp afterwards..
