Android Smartphones
First topic message reminder :
I've just recently moved on to using smartphones after years of regular celphone use. And I say that the move was quite a pain (brainfart all the time!). So what's your best Android app?

Re: Android Smartphones
Sir,
try VNC Viewer - It lets you safely log in and connect to a remote machine.
You can launch your renders / check it or actually kahit ano gusto mo gawin.
Medyo laggy nga lang depende sa connection mo.

i root na yan master cloud! Kelangan nka root phone mo para magamit mo yung app2sd.cloud20 wrote:I have SOC (super one click) for rooting but I haven't rooted my phone yet.. Still thinking if I really need to.. Will apps2SD work without rooting my phone?..
just make sure na magwo-work yung super one click sa phone mo, then install mo yung superuser app kase yan yung magbibigay permissions sa mga apps na kelangan ng root tulad ng app2sd.
Ive rooted my phone in so many ways, ginamit ko rin yang super one click and its all good! :-)
Ive read the rooting process ng galaxy ace sa xda using SOC, i think its accurate.
Just make sure lng na di matanggal yung cable while doing the root.

Yesterday i had a chance to compare my rooted phone against stock phone.
Mine is the old galaxy s and i compared it Samsung Google nexus s.
Halos pareho lng specs ng dalawang phone although mas bago yung nexus s.
Laking deperensya in terms of performance, gulat nga yung may ari ng nexus s kase di talaga makasabay yung stock.

Re: Android Smartphones
@whey: Di na mahirp mag root ng phone ngayon. Marami ng resources di tulad noon na talagang ang haba ng process...
suggestion ko punta ka ng xda forum, lahat andun na. Step by step yung process at andun na rin mga kelangan mong i download to root your phone.
pointers:
yung rooting is very specific sa brand and model ng phone make sure na yung mga required na downloads e para talaga sa phone mo.
study the process, mas mabuti mag dry run muna bago mag root para lng ma familiarize yung process... di kase pwedeng magkamali sa process
when doing the actual root dapat di matanggal yung cable (phone to pc) dito kadalasan nangyayari yung bricking na sinasabi nila.
Nakaka 14hrs ako on very heavy use against the usual 7 hrs lng. Super smooth walang lag... naka overclock pa ako at naka undervolt din kaya cguro mka 14hrs yung battery.
just try to read the forums first, dont rush to root, just do the rooting anytime komportable ka na, and it should be good

Are you aware of Carrier IQ?
Are you aware of Carrier IQ? HTC, Samsung Android users etc...
For all those who are using Android Phones, though this Carrier IQ is not only limited to Android but most other (phone) communication systems as well.
What is Carrier IQ?
Privacy concerns surrounding Carrier IQ were initially brought to light
by Trevor Eckhart, a security researcher who became alarmed by the
extent of information accessible by the analytic software. In the
following video, Trevor presents much of his findings, which seemingly
demonstrate Carrier IQ's keystroke logging, location tracking and
ability to intercept text messages. Even information that should be
transferred only within encrypted sessions is captured in plain text by
Carrier IQ...
For full text, videos and infos:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/carrier-iq-what-it-is-what-it-isnt-and-what-you-need-to/
Trevor Eckhart (TrevE as he's know @ xda forums) is a mainstay at xda forums and he really pushed this issue to be publicized...
So, those useless network carriers apps or bloaters that comes with your phone and are disguised as useful, harmless apps by network carriers are not harmless afterall... and actually used by these bastards to record (anytime they want) sensitive data from your phone... Even without network connection as shown on the video!
This is a huge news in N. America right now, let's see what happens next...
2 of my fave devs (custom ROM developers) at XDA forums assured us that their custom ROMS are free of these nasty apps... Including Cyanogenmod http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cyanogenmod-will-never-have-carrier-iq?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Most custom ROMS are free of bloaters, usually ito yung pinaka-unang tinatanggal ng mga devs... not knowing (until these "carrier IQ news came out) na talagang malicious din pala talaga yung mga apps na ito...
And of course you can only do these (cleanup of bloaters) if your phone is rooted.....
But the sad truth is most people are using "stock phones"...
Me, i rooted my phone because i wanna play with technology just a tiny bit... and thats it...
Well, i guess these are the new challenges we have to face as we progress... technological advancement is very fast...
And these network carriers are taking advantage... i don't understand though what's the need of doing this... they're not dirty hackers... they're huge legitimate companies and still they resort to these dirty tricks....
Hopefully Smart, Globe and Sun are not into this... im not sure kng meron din Carrier IQ dyan sa Asia or baka meron equivalent...
Link for Logging Test App (to check if your phone for CIQ) kaya lang kelangan ng root...

Re: Android Smartphones
I've done some research with this CIQ thing. And this CIQ's are bundled with proprietary apps from the telcos and the phone manufacturer itself, and they installed these apps to the roots of the system, that there is no way you can uninstall these apps unless you root your phone... they really intend to have these apps in your phones in case they need to get some infos...
Because of these i advocate "rooting"... It will give you control of what content you want for yourself and what contents or personal infos you want to share.
The best way to eliminate CIQ softwares pre-installed in stock phones is by rooting and deleting this nasty apps. And there's no other way...
We can use "logging test" app to check for the presence of CIQ's and delete them from the system.
Aside fronm the CIQ's, beware also of the many apps in the market that requires permission to access your phone data like your phone number, location, IMEI, wifi, network, even your phone calling history and contacts etc... You'll notice everytime you install new apps there is always a part during installation wherein they indicate what permissions they need to continue the installation... and there's no option here as to what permissions you wanna give, this is the part we should be paying attention... and most of the time we don't care and we just continue with the installation anyway...
There are few security apps in the market that could change the permissions we give to each and every apps we've already installed. These security apps alter/ change the access permissions we gave to the apps, you can stop the app accessing your personal infos on the phone, your wifi, network, etc...
Permission Denied is one good security app or LBE Private Guard.
Using this security apps could also prevent ads on popping specially on free apps. Ads that are usually intrusive...
Ads usually decrease your phone's performance.
Heres an example you can try. Your Wifi, 3g or 4g should be on (as it should be)
Virtual Table Tennis 3D is a nice game but the live ads steals the power of your phone. You'll see the popping ads while playing the game. Many of these ads are "naughty ads" ....
Because of this Lag would be unbearable or the game becomes unplayable.
Now off the 3g or 4g network or the wifi. Virtually stopping the ads from popping.
With security apps you can deny Virtual Table Tennis 3D to access your wifi and network and stopping the ads from coming in..
And youll get a better user experience, play is smooth and precise.

Re: Android Smartphones
Its been a year since this topic was posted.
There was the galaxy SII, galaxy Nexus and now the galaxy SIII
My 1st gen galaxy vibrant is still holding on... its a 2 and 1/2 yrs old phone.
It has endured an Encryption Error Bug that plagued ICS Roms. I lost my Internal memory. But i managed to run the Rom from the SD Card, thanks to the devs at XDA.
Presently it is running the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with the Jelly Bean theme and animations
And soon it will be using the full Android Jelly Bean 4.1 Rom
Still loving it!
