Android Smartphones
First topic message reminder :
I've just recently moved on to using smartphones after years of regular celphone use. And I say that the move was quite a pain (brainfart all the time!). So what's your best Android app?

Re: Android Smartphones
Wikipedia: Rooting is a process that allows users of cellphones and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's Linux subsystem, similar to jailbreaking on Apple devices running the iOS operating system, overcoming limitations that the carriers and manufacturers put on such phones.
Link for a full read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooting_%28Android_OS%29
Brick - a literal term used to describe your phone when you screw up while doing the root. It's the worst case scenario, that if something wrong has happened while rooting, you phone will be worthless as a brick!
@ whey: yea you can do overclocking or underclocking

but brick can be use to build a house .. joke ..
in layman's term...nah! i don't like the sound of it.

but thanks a lot for answering my question. i've been reading android forums, and a lot of them are talking "android" .. makes me blur!

Re: Android Smartphones
I've done some Overclocking and Undervolting at the same time on my Samsung Galaxy S, just stable and smooth enough to play my fave games and to compensate for the extra power needed to get the higher clocks without draining the battery fast.
ROM: cyanogenmod CM7 nightly, 2.3.5 Gingerbread
Kernel: Glitch OC Kernel, OC'd @ 1.4 GHz (could be pushed to 1.7 GHz)
Overclocking/ Undervolting Values
Quadrant Benchmark score has tripled @ 3400 pts from just 1000 pts on standard Froyo Rom and about 2000 pts on CM7 Stock kernel

Re: Android Smartphones
if you are going for a tablet - the nook color is a cheap alternative. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nookcolor/index.asp
it's only 250USD as compared to its counterpart the galaxy tab 500USD.
the reason it's cheap is because it was only meant to be an ereader - but it can be rooted to run android as well
it may not be as responsive as the other tablets but i find it a good bargain - and of course, runs on android
sorry mejo OT. but aside from ANGRY BIRDS my best app would be MoboPlayer (the only android media player that runs most video formats)

Does it run Quicktimes?
I've been on the lookout for QT Players for quite sometime now...

Re: Android Smartphones
Hi Sirs and Ma'ams,
Advanced Ruler Pro
Ruler sa cam na pwede pang measure ng distance (you from object), height, and length (point to point).
http://www.appbrain.com/app/advanced-ruler-pro/com.yingwen.rulerpro
D-Measures
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dsol.dmeasures
Smart Compass

Cheers

Re: Android Smartphones
Sir,
try VNC Viewer - It lets you safely log in and connect to a remote machine.
You can launch your renders / check it or actually kahit ano gusto mo gawin.
