Android Smartphones
I've just recently moved on to using smartphones after years of regular celphone use. And I say that the move was quite a pain (brainfart all the time!). So what's your best Android app?
Re: Android Smartphones
I rooted my phone:
Rooted apps:
Titanium Backup - a must if you flash ROMS, it could force apps to move to SD, Freeze the the apps and lots more.
Rom Manager - for flashing custom ROMS (my phone is on CM7 Gingerbread 2.3.4)
Autokiller Memory - the best memory Optimizer and its fully cutomizable
Ad Free - hides the ads on free apps
Cache Mate
Quick Boot
Here are my fave Regular Apps:
Photo Tools - It's a good photography helper
Pic Say Pro - In phone photo editing
Sygic Aura - I think it's the best GPS for android, you don't need a network (inet) to use it. (They have Metro Manila Map too)
SPV TV - free TV, love the cycling network
Dolphin HD - inet browser
Kindle - Reading books
Expense Manager - budget
Real Calc - Scientific Calculator
Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile
AutoCAD - Im not using it, i just have it in case i need it
Launcher Pro - fave launcher!
Fun Apps:
Google Sky MAp - pang show-off wala yata apple neto!
Barcode Scanner - use your phone as a bar code scanner, namamangha rin yung di pa alam ito.
Solo Guitar
Shazam
Live wallpapers! (wala din iphone neto)
Games:
I have all of the gameloft titles
My kids loves Angry Birds
World Series of mahjong!
And be sure to download the latest Adobe Flash Player for your phone, wala din iphone neto.
You can watch movies online.

Re: Android Smartphones
I suggest Advanced Task Killer, with this application, you can sellect and turn off current running applications on your phone to save battery, another one is Convert Pad, I use this to covert measurements, etc,
meron din akong Barcode scanner - pwede mo rin gamitin ito for installing Apps, search mo lang sa net yung barcode nung app na gusto mong iinstall sa phone mo, then scan it, tapos automatic na siya na pupunta sa site nung app where you can download it, it saves time because you dont have to go to Android market anymore and search for the app you want

Wow!!!!...anong mga phones ba ang mai-susuggest niyo na maganda?
Tanong lang ako, although, wala talaga akong budget para dito. Just incase, may mahulog na salapi sa harapan ko.
But seriously...wala akong alam dito...i am so low tech when it comes to phones...so, which brands and models are recommended?

LOL! Transition stage is the hardest part... hehehe
If you could give more details of what or which part you're having difficulty. Is it the operation of the phone? Or how you intend to use the phone? Or talagang naninibagao lang?

Re: Android Smartphones
Hi menchie, long time no hear...
pati sa smartphone, Desire - pangalan palang menchie na menchie na.
Yung whatsapp - you mean you can sms to any number in the Philippines? Pano kung wala silang internet plan sa cel nila?
Ano yang chikka?
I see that I have google pre-installed, Skype and bunch others..
I'm looking for a pen input device and a simple memo pad for quick sketches and note taking.

I'm still not used to the input device.
But since I can check my emails and do simple computer tasks with the Galaxy, I realized that I may no longer need to lug a laptop whenever I travel maliban na lang if I have to do CG on the road.

V_wrangler : Desire S Whatsapp is parang chat . basta. pag ang friend mo naka whatsapp. libre na text and mms. (im on 12g data plan kaya online lagi). pero kung wala silang data plan and not always online, you can use CHIKKA, pang text lang sa pinas. dati web based lang ang chikka, para nga naman libre mag text.
use NOTE EVERYTHING, mey sketch yun
how are you? long time no hear..naka invisible ka lagi e.
Whey : yes free lahat.. try mo Android Booster, mey file manager para ma-erase mo unwanted files sa sd card manually. and it saves your battery life better.
my phone also have pre-installed facebook, twitter and plurk (which i do not use)
i hate MiCoarch! never give me visual of gps map.
im sticking to iMapMyRun, para live feed and gps map.
my Angry Birds are all free. free ata sa android. but Whatsapp, limited time lang, until 2012 lang ata.

@Whey, are you on iphone? i can not find Convert Pad at android market.
i suggest to anyone who wants to upgrade, choose either android or iphone. do not get symbian kasi obsolete na yun.

Re: Android Smartphones
I don't how much is the price difference of the HTC Desire compared to Samsung Galaxy S.whey09 wrote:dito sa pinas dumadami na ang HTC users, much cheaper kasi compare to iphone,
I urge you to try the Galaxy S, Bigger Display and the Super AMOLED screen is a killer! (battery killer din LOL)
Add'l Useful Apps: (Free)
App 2 SD - you'll be able to move the apps installed on your internal drive to your SD card
File Expert - i think this is the best File Explorer, simple UI
Rockplayer - media player, it will play almost any media format
Kung photography naman ang hilig, Try Photo Tools
Halos dito lahat ng kelangan mo, here are few of the features;
DOF & Hyperfocal Distance Calculator, Field of View Calc, Exposure Reciprocation Cal, Multiple Exposure Compensation,
Sunny 16 Calc, meron din graycard (i dont know how accurate this thing) etc.
If you wanna learn the details of photography this is a good tool.

I've tried AndCAD - its a full Autocad app for android, but i think it's good if your using tab because of bigger display rather than phone.
AutoCAD WS - is a good CAD viewer in case you need to open cad dwgs in your phone, you can edit and save as well.

Re: Android Smartphones
Ive rooted my Samsung Galaxy S and and ever since i've been using different roms and theres a huge discrepancy in using custom roms (newer build roms) over the stock roms and better battery life. (See comparison below)
DISCLAIMER: Rooting could BRICK your phone! (Do it at your own risk)
Rooting nowadays is pretty simple, there are many detailed instructions on the net and it should be followed step by step, it's up to you to evaluate the risk, if you want to do it, do you research first.
And of course if you're not confident in doing, there's no harm in staying in stock roms.
Reasons why i root my phone; (i got a year old Samsung Galaxy S, SGH-T959 that's in dog years it's about to retire soon)
1. I want to eliminate all bloatwares that the network and phone company bundled on my phone. These are apps that you will never use and hate and rooting is the only solution.
2. By doing so i free some precious internal storage for more useful apps
3. Not all apps allows you to install them on SD, but rooting could force these apps to be moved to SD card, freeing more internal storage.
4. Remove annoying ads on free apps, be able to backup your whole system (rom and all apps)
5. I could install custom roms, specially "upgrade roms" that my network don't want to give because they want me to get a new phone instead... By doing so, i gave my phone a new leash of life and a better performance... not to mention overclock/ underclock feature that you may use whenever you need...
Reasons why i will not root my phone
1. Rooting could BRICK your phone and you could end up having an expensive, useless piece of junk in your hand...
2. If my phone is a Galaxy SII (@ stock rom it's reported to get a Quadrant score of 3000+)
Here are some screen shots of my benchmark using "Quadrant", a CPU, I/O and 3D graphics benchmark.
Stock Rom (Froyo 2.2 with the latest KB5 upgrade)
Custom ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.4 - Cyanogenmod 7 (CM7) Nightly build #54)
