3ds Max Running on MAC OSX with Intel Chips????

Happy New Year to all CGPip Masters and Techies out there!....... I just want to ask if there is anybody out there tried using 3d max and autocad on Mac Osx with Intel processors (Windows installed using Boot Camp or Parallels)? Is it running fine without problems or its a big mess? The reason I've asked this question is, if you will buy or assemble a windows pc with same specs as of mac pro G5, it turns out that the windows pc comes more expensive than mac pro G5..........I'm planning to buy one kasi.

here the specs for both machine:

I've got quotations on both machines........mac comes little cheaper than the pc.

Hi, I have used an 8core mac pro with 8gb ram, installed windows 64bit and running 3dsmax. Its running 3dsmax natively, no problems. Mac is cheaper for an 8 core machine. I highly recommend it

I remember this thread when I went to one office in Abu Dhabi yesterday. He has a PC running on 8-gig RAM with 32-bit OS. Sayang, half of it works lang, but for the CACHE it helps daw Is it true

Hi bai! If you have 32bit OS it can only detect up to 3gb. Need 64 bit OS to maximize the ram usage 8gb helps on big scenes, sometimes a cpu having 8gb can render 50% faster than a cpu having only 3gb. even if they have the same cpu ghz But you wont notice this on small scenes

Hi Sir, Yes, you can run dual booth on all intel based macs. I have tried it on my friends macbook, macbook pro and macbook air. Autocad and 3dsmax works in macbook air.hehe

Just download bootcamp, or use the bootcamp installed with your mac OS.

Hi bai! If you have 32bit OS it can only detect up to 3gb. Need 64 bit OS to maximize the ram usage 8gb helps on big scenes, sometimes a cpu having 8gb can render 50% faster than a cpu having only 3gb. even if they have the same cpu ghz But you wont notice this on small scenes

The specs of mac is fine......you have dual Xeon and 8 Gb of ram your ready for some 3d works........you just need a 64-Bit windows (XP or Vista). Mac Pro ba yan sir?

dude hotrod it's a good thing na open to! matagal ko nang gusto magtanong tungkol sa mac, particularly sa mac notebook, ung bago nila kc is 6k AED lang e. and much cheaper sa mac air. i'm planning to buy one kase....

ang pinaka worry ko lang e kung installan ba ng windows ung mac e talaga bang 100% na magwowork??? and pwede na bang mag install ng kahit pirated na installer (sorry, I'm not promoting it mga dude ha?)...ang mahal kase ng software para sa mac e...sobrang mahal!

is it worth it ba? compare sa sony viao or any other laptop?

sa mga mac users, please need your help on this..you may want to give me some suggestion what to and what not to buy sa mac notebooks. one thing I know sa mac air wala pang dvd drive so ung latest nila daw ang mas practical not only my drive na mas mura pa at mas bago ang technology...

ser pwedeng pwede ang mga 3rd party software sa mac(intel). in my case macpro(intel) gamit ko. were using bootcamp para sa partition. successfully installed window xp gold sp2. kc ung sp3 medyo nagloloko ung license 3rd party max8 na gamit ko.

mas madali lng ung installation nito. kung kailangan nyo ng bootcamp just pm me ok! gud luck ser

Sir Torvicz, Mac nalang bilin mo compare sa sony viao....and if you have the budget go for macbook pro or the mac pro desktop
I have one, but its only a macbook.....I've installed windows xp sp3 on boothcamp and its running perfectly with autocad and 3d max.....its a little bit slower because of the low specs.

There is Windows XP Pro 64-Bit and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit.......and this is for windows only.........if you have Intel chips on your macpro you can install either one of the 64-bit os of your choice via boothcamp.....I guess you know this already

Hi Torvicz, For me i would prefer buying a mac, kasi its like buying 2 laptop. you can use mac OS and windows . For PC notebooks, even if its a sony, you put it side by side to a mac book or macbook pro. design wise panalo na yun mac. extra pogi points for you.hehe

So you can use Mac OS for surfing the net, avoiding viruses and as a backup for your pics, etc. then boot to windows to do serious work in 3dsmax and autocad. you can even run 3dsmax and autocad inside mac os using parallels software

I have a macbook air, you cant do serious 3d work, but for emails, opening autocad files, simple 3d stuff it works well. and i bring it to showcase our works in meetings. most clients are surprised notebook pala dala ko, parang folder lang kasi when its inside d sleeve. For 3d work go with the macbook pro. they said lalabas na daw ang quadcore notebook ng apple. wait n see
