How to criticize a work?! (A small discussion)

First topic message reminder :

Hi guys, I've been wanting to open this up dati pa. Gawin natin tong small discussion on how to properly criticize a work by colleagues to guide us into a better understanding of what we are doing.

Aside from the fact that we are super sensitive as artist, lalo na when it comes to our personal works. It is also important that we stress the points of improvement directly and objectively. Wala na sanang pasikot sikot pa o pasaring na tipong double meaning ang dating.

The goal of this thread is to develop a good sense of critic.

Below are some phrases or words that I personally do not like seeing in post: You may also share yours and suggests. Everybody is welcome to contribute.

1. parang may mali... or sa monitor ko lang. (what's the sense kung iba naman pala ang monitor mo di ba?)
2. nagtataka lang ako sa door (ground floor), parang grainy sya, o sa mata ko lang. (avoid na natin yung mga side comments na sa mata ko lang, hindi talaga nakakatulong sa pagimprove yan.)
3...

Ito naman ang mga suggestions ko on how to critic:
1. point out the mistakes
2. suggest solutions on how to improve them
3. explain why if you find anything odd
4. suggest references if you have time
5. go direct to the point
6. be objective
7. avoid unnecessary comments
8. avoid using local dialects for everyone to benefit from the discussions

Sa thread na to, sana maimprove natin ang pagcritic. Yung mga compliments naman, hayaan na muna natin, these are ego boosters which I have observed will help improve a persons mood. a happy mood means good everything.

Sana tigilan na rin natin ang katatawag ng : 

MASTER = "Masters are terms denoting some kind of rank or status"....master ng ano kagalingan o kapalpakan (pang-asar diba)?
SIR= "means mylord"  madalas sa loob ng opisina ito ginagamit...
BOSS/BOSSING = pinapaswelduhan ba tayo?
at kung ano ano pa..kung sa huli naman eh laitan din ang mang yayari..                                                              

Kung gagamitin ito dahil sa paggalang bakit kaya mismong pangalan na nya ang gamitin  para mas na i aaddress ng tama  kung sino man sya . ONLY IN CGP kung baga!!.....

@ darkwarrior - tama ka sir, ginagamit ang iba dahil sa paggalang, pero tinatawag natin "MASTERS" ang iba kasi master naman sila ng kagalingan, or maybe magaling sila sa isang bagay. I think exaggerated naman masyado yung "my lord",,what i mean is di ba kapag gumagawa tayo ng letter or quotation we put "DEAR SIR/MADAM" so does it mean "DEAR MYLORD" na ba yun? yung "BOSSING" naman, i guess nasa dugo na natin mga pinoy ang paggamit nito kahit sino pa kausap natin. Nasa dugo na rin natin mga pinoy ang pagiging magalang.

what's the problem with that SIR? pano nakaka apekto ung pag tawag ng MASTER, SIR, at BOSSING sa pag criticize ng work nya? halimbawa, nagpost ka, nag reply ako, "Nice render you got here SIR!" does it mean panginoon na kita? at para ipaliwanag ko sayo ang ibig sabihin ng sir, it is a noun and a term of address for a man! at para sa mga Briton, a title used before the name of knight or baronet. pano napasok ang my lord na sinasabi mo?

Thank you for this topic mga sir,mind opening, before medyo nadiscourage nga ako to post kasi walang nagcocoment or critic sa previous posts ko, pero at the same time naging positive naman sakin, na i should create something na atleast pleasing at the same time maraming magkakainterest magcritic or comment; that I have to improve my works. I think it is positive to receive negative comments or criticisms, kasi it helps you improve your work as well as your views on things.

I enjoy receiving papuri about my works but it'll be better if I receive criticisms with suggestion for my improvement...

Master or Masters are terms denoting some kind of rank or status.

ito yung nakasanayan gamitin natin pero di natin alam ang tunay na ibig sabihin nito. Nag ibaba na lang ang paggamit dahil sa katagalan pero ang tunay na ibig sabihin ay nakalimutan. Maganda kasi sa pandinig kung baga...ito yung nakalagay sa post ko "kung sa huli naman eh laitan din ang mang yayari.. Ibig kong sabihin bakit mo pa sinabihan ng sir,master o bossing kung sahuli eh nilait mo din. wag na lang sana diba....
Siguro nga ibang iba ang filipino naka sanayan na talagang gamitin ang mga salitang hiram sa ibang lahi. Siguro nga di na maiaalis ang ganito. Naalala ko lang yung kliente ko na taga Canada ayaw na ayaw nyang tinatawag ng Sir maski yung mga kasama nya nagagalit pag tinawag mong sir, kung tutuusin mas maiintindihan nila kung bakit sila dapat tawaging sir pero. Ang paliwanag nila sa akin simple lang "Partner tayo, kung wala ka di mabubuo ang project na ito ang gusto ko lang maging pantay pantay tayo" . Hanggang ngayon napapaisip ako kung bakit maski sa email walang sir dapat. Canadian 'to ah hindi filipino.

oo tama ka pero mahilig tayo mang hiram ng mga salita, kung sa paggalang naman ang sinasabi mo mas magalang siguro kung pangalan na ang gamitin di ba.Ang pinag uusapan natin dito ay hindi paggawa ng letter ang pagtawag natin dito sa thread ang pinag uuspaan.Sa huli nasa inyo parin ang desisyon kung gagamitin nyo parin ang mga salitang HIRAM. Ito lamanag ay suwestyon....

Your signature is very poorly done. I also don't like people calling people masters but i do not insult them in return.
Also, I assigned the five stars to moderators just to have them separated from the rest. So you better learn where you are coming from before you even speak. I hope you get that clear.

crystal clear Bokks. my signature dont intend the ranking that you give on Mods but rather for the comments on thread.
i rather consider everyone a part of my circle of friends rather than
giving them distinction and levels of respect with tags such as Masters.
again, i am addressing this on comments and replies on threads.
Honestly, we dont use such word here in our work area, and every time
i open a thread with comments addressing to " master and galing mo or isa kang master" everybody starts giggling.
apologies if it was poorly done, my bad, but again it was intended
to replies on thread and not on rankings that Mods designate.

Dapat makarating to sa lahat ng members. Nakaka-guilt. Yung suggestion niyo sir boks is enough for me, parang pinaka common sense dapat to when you give your critics.

I think he's in connivance with mr. pure_critics, or i guess maybe pure_critics and 3dpinoy ay iisa, they are both located in singapore (daw) and both presumptuous kasi.

"Batohin kaya kita ng lata ng sardinas!" - Ito parati ang nasa utak ko everytime I read your signature.

Pwede naman kasi idiscuss ng matino yan at pagdibatehan. Sensitive ka din nga kasi naiinis kang tawagin master or nagtatawagan ng master. Kung hindi ka sensitive, sana maayos ang pagkapresent mo ng problem.

I understand your point. I was like that sa 3dpinoy.com dati 5 years ago. Same topic ang pinresent ko. Naiwasan ng konti in a way, but hindi talaga nawala. Insulting talaga ang tawagin kang master or sir pero dadalihin ka din pala ng comments na negative. Pero as I said. mapag-uusapan yan.

Well its really nice to share my thoughts this way.

I joined the forum to improve my quality of work. I hate liar who don't say the truth. I don't like comments saying nice even-though its not. How could I improve myself if you wont tell me whats really in your mind or are you just afraid me! Why I should be angry? if I don't like your comments. I should be thankful for because of your critics I am now here that I am not supposed to be here. We need to be realistic like what we always wants to our render.

I miss the people like v_wrangler for him is what critics I want to hear.

well that's a lesson for you, na wag icompare ang master sa sardinas... that if there's a topic, we should stick to it... walang paliguy ligoy... nail your points straight to the head...

O tama. Back to the original discussions.

Meron din kasing mga TS na hindi makatanggap ng straight to the point comments or criticism. Lalo na pag yung nag bigay ng comment eh sa tingin nila eh "newbie" lang dito sa site...

Tapos sasabihin nila na ipakita muna yung gawa ng nag comment bago mag comment sa gawa nila... Parang mali naman yata yun... Meron namang mga arkitekto/artist na kung hindi man magaling sa CG, eh magaling sa medium na nakasanayan nya... Thus nakapag comment sya sa gawa ng TS...

Then the "newbie" who commented on the TS will end up ganged by the TS and the "oldies"

Ang point ko lang is... Once na ipinost mo yung gawa mo on a public forum... wag tayo mapipikon or maging sarcastic sa mga "negative" na comment...

hope i dont get tons of hate PMs on this one...
