As much as i wanna watch it on 3d, unfortunately, i won't appreciate it, due to the inability of my right eye to view things...how sad is'nt it? he he he..

Re: Avatar
waaayy good VFx and GGI alright...
BUT story wise, kinda typical...
then nice point as in this article....warning some spoilers in article. http://gawker.com/5422666/when-will-white-people-stop-making-movies-like-avatar
...i agree w/ one point, really didn't need a jake sully to overthrow the 'alien' humans on Pandora.

Re: Avatar
i thought it's about saving a planet, appreciate the animals and the beautiful and glow-in-the-dark-plants ..
i thought it's about destroying a planet in a most expensive and stupid way ??
because they want the bloody Home Tree, and after they bombed the sorry tree, they just left it there to destroy a more precious Tree of Voices .. then the Tree of Souls ....

Re: Avatar
well yeah....
..but why can't the very main hero come from 'homeland'?!. Is Hollywood saying...only some1 else(not the natives) can save an 'entire' planet. Storywise, still possible to have a native save entire planet, right? But noooo....hollywood rules, we make it the other dude.
you can find similar 'hero' stories...
The Knowing...
2012...
Batman...
Ironman....
hehehe.
Original - Panday FTW!!!!
Kinda OT already.

Re: Avatar
OT: I find it sad that people sometimes take the message of a movie and twist it out. Protagonist sometimes are important since it is essential to tell the story on their point of view. Contrast is also essential. You can only appreciate the light if you have seen the darkness.
Protagonist here, being not a native makes the resolve better and much clearer, in fact how can they defeat the sky people without the knowledge that Jake has? As you can see they were already broken and defeated, it was only when taruk maktu showed up that their spirits were raised.
In the end, what matters is that we were entertained. If not then the movie failed which for me was a complete success.
Lets watch watch, enjoy it and leave it as it is.

Re: Avatar
it's simply a white man's detachment from his own kind in order to let go of any racial, sexual, and in the movie's case, environmental prejudices. shades of pocahontas and the last of the mohicans.
or it could also be the today's youth getting "leveled up" by some virtual, more colorful and mystical world (online games), gets hooked and never wants to leave (the PC). ergo - the matrix, or someone i know who simply gave up reality altogether (albeit he got knocked on the head finally). lol

Re: Avatar
nothing to say here Sir Mushroom... LOLz, I'm speaking not entirely in the context to the responses here but to the link that was provided a page before. I read the article and was saddened on why people tend to twist a perfectly enjoyable and entertaining movie into a racial issue. Its just not right.
Re: Avatar
that's what happens when you do a blockbuster. they will squeeze the innards of the movie and dissect it.
better to just watch south park where racism is simply entertaining and not taken seriously :p

Re: Avatar
come to think of it....it is kinda like "Dances with (Wolves)Smurfs"
heheheh....
eyecon..c'mon....we can get creative enough that for discussions sake, alternative story...somehow the protagonist is one of the lowly Natives who redeems himself and wrestles that huge bird. There's a dozen and more ways to it. (I mean i was still entertained, but to erase all this eye-candy and then think of the story itself...i ask myself why?!) And why even go for the protagonist? What if that unobtanium the Corporation was digging was the only hope to save the human race? (Versus some freaking aliens, I'd go for human race- hell yeah!) see...it's just a matter of how the story is told, in whose perspective.
I mean, see look at Star Wars, real good that it was made that Luke was really an outsider and came to be part of the rebellion. The story didn't need for Luke to be part of the Empire, empathize with the rebels later on, and then become one. Still worked fine with me.
Ok...lol...please nothing serious here...just chit-chat.
I hope to watch it in 3D then -- seriously top Fantasy/Sci-Fi films on my list neverthe less.
