random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
First topic message reminder :
allow me to share here some of my random interiors using both Sketchup, vray SU and vraymax...
sketchup vray render
vraymax
rerender after knowing how to have more materials

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
a requested. here is a small tut on my approach with su to max
1. Here is the original sketchup scene. I use the texture from form fonts for these pillows.
On SU I group by materials. all the same materials are on one group.
2. export to 3ds file with the attach settings how i export my files

3. be sure to create one seperate folder. as you can see on the image below all the materials that i used appears
4. import to max

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
5. link the folder where yur textures are, so that max can link them.
6. once you link them try to render them you will see them already there.

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
but i dont want to stop there. i want to create vray materials and tweak further their properties
7. so create a new vray material and on the diffuse slot box load your texture which are located on the scene
8. drag the material to the group.. here is the importance why you need to group them. you can find them easily in max.

Another tutorial workflow this time with one of the interiror posted here
su screen
group all objects with the same material

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
export to 3ds the main structure except furnitures (chose preserving texture coordinates)
export furnitures. choose welding vertices instead of preserving material coordinates.. there are times that applying smooth modifier o turbo smooth modifier in max has different result, therefore smoothing could correct is easier with welding vertices. the only thing in welding vertices, texture coordinates wont be preserved. but nevermind, the idea is to create vray materials with these group instead of using the native sketchup material apply on these objects

here you can see that max recognize the SU group..

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
this time we will import the furniture. just merge the material and rename the objects.
here you will see that the furniture location are the same location as in SU.

Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
here you will see that the edges are smooth.
Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
here is a render and you will see that the materials are link. all you have to do now is to create materials based on the first tutorial on page 6...
Re: random SU modelled rendered in Vray SU and Vray Max (with TUT on page 6)
and here is the render in vraymax
