Help Building a 3D apps PC?
Hey Guys,
I am getting ready to buy a new system and I need advice on componets. I have done some research and am even more confused as there seems to be too many options. I just need a system which will work for my needs and not any more since I am on a budget (1500 & under).
I basically need a system to run my 3D applications and graphics programs. I do not need anything for gaming... just a system that can handle my 3D scenes and rendering which takes alot of processor & power. I run the following software:
3D Studio Max
Maya
Photoshop
AfterEffects
Here is where I am in my research to buy componets:
1) Intel Core i7
2) Asus Mother board (Don't know which one)
3) 750w power supply
4) 6GB or 12GB Tri-Channel DDR3 at 1066MHZ (3x2GB DIMM)
5) nVidia GeForce GTX 285 1024MB or ati 4870 card. (Most confused about this as there a dozens of ATI cards,...which is enough for my needs)
6) Solid State SSD Drive as my C: drive for programs and a 500GB normal drive as my D: for data and backup. ( Have no idea what HD's to buy and is the solid state worth buying?)
7) Go to Vista 64 or stay with XP?
8) Sound- Don't care.
9) Watching TV/DVD- Don't care
10) Basic DVD burner to backup data.
I don't care about the case as far as looks...just so long as it's funcational. Any recommendations or opinions welcome and let me know if you guys have better componets ideas for this kind of system. Thank you.

Re: Help Building a 3D apps PC?
enough na po yang nVidia GeForce GTX 285 for your 3D rendering needs, mas okay po ang NVIDIA in terms of performance and driver compatibility. actually, I already tried those 2 cards you have mentioned.
Here's my previous 4870
and here's my current graphics card (GTX 285)
I can really tell the huge difference among the 2 cards, mura na din naman mga GTX 285 ngayon, you might get a cheaper brand like Inno3D or Palit, but in terms of durability and warranty, you can try out XFX or EVGA brands.
For motherboards, you may want to try P6T series
actually lahat naman yan okay, tignan nyo na lang yung specs nya kung ano yung sa tingin mong mas kakailanganin mo for your work.
yung sound card built-in naman yun palagi, kaya hindi na problema.
HTH sir!

@cadmazter
masyadong expensive yung Corei7 Extreme sir, hindi po sya praktikal kahit sabihin mo na meron tayong pera na pambili. mataas din naman ang multiplier ng Corei7 920, sa TPC merong nag ooverclock hanggang 4.7ghz using air cooling. lalabas na din yung Corei9 by next year, it has 6 cores, 12 threads kaya hindi na din advisable bumili ng Corei7 Extreme. you can use the extra budget to buy other peripherals.
