Re: 3D Model of Madrid Tile Roofing (Updated with DL site)
Displacement ba ito? Ano ang totoong polygon count?
A shape simple as this need not be subject to a proxy...

hindi po yan displacement sir... yan po ang polygon count sir 16,948.. d na masyado mabigat pag proxy na 10,000 ang polygon count..

hindi mo xa ma aapreciate sir whey pag dispalcement gamitin mo sa roof.. mas maganda 3d model talaga.. madali lng gamitin sir, u group the copies of roof model den apply ka an lng ng slice.. den after u finish the whole roof, proxy it.. yung polygon count nya is 10,000 lng..whey09 wrote:mas maganda sana kung displacement nalang ito sir,,,,

I think that's a polygon overdose. If I would do it - I'd probably do a single slab and instance the rest. As for details, you wouldn't need such a density as most of times, if not all of the times , they take only a potion of the rendered image.

Re: 3D Model of Madrid Tile Roofing (Updated with DL site)
may follow up question ako mga masters,,,,
ano ba mas mabigat i render or mas maraming poly counts kung 3d model gagamitin mo or displacement sa roofing?,,,,i found a tutorial kasi on how to make a displacement file for your roof pero di ko pa nasubukan,,,
eto ang link : http://pixelab.wordpress.com/2007/09/26/tutorial-creating-v-ray-displacement-maps-from-hi-poly-tiling-geometry/

Re: 3D Model of Madrid Tile Roofing (Updated with DL site)
It is and will always be a test case.
Ibig sabihin case by case.
Remember that all objects whether low poly displaced or high poly - will be tesselated during rendertime. The problem is that memory will come to a hit if you have hi-polygons in the scene and you would also have problems displaying them in the vieport.
Displacements tries to overcome this bottleneck - by allowing you to use lesser polygon counts but still let you enjoy micropoly tesselations only during rendertime.

Re: 3D Model of Madrid Tile Roofing (Updated with DL site)
thanks sir v for the explanation,,,
i made some test renders on model vs. displacement,,
1.) MODEL ROOF (render time = 9 secs,,poly counts = 10,680)
2.) PLANE WITH DISPLACEMENT (render time = 18 secs,,poly counts = 2)
medyo may konting flaws nga lang ang displacement pero di na cguro halata kung di naman close up scene ang gagawin mo

kung mag aaply kan ng reflection at glossiness makikita ito sa rendering? like for example when u apply it to a plane, tapos lalagyan mo ng reflection at glossiness makikita ba ito?whey09 wrote:i found it very useful lalo na sa roofing,,,yung mga ridges nalang imomodel mo,,,
