memory card no need formatting?

hi there to all addicts in taking pix... tanong ko mga bro kung ang bagong memory card ba pag insert sa dslr camera ay hindi na kelangang e-format? hindi ko kasi alam kung normal or defects sa camera newbie user kasi hehehe nasa manual kasi na pag-insert ng memory card e press lang daw ung delete button and metering button simultaneously within 2 seconds mag-appear na ung format sa control panel pero nothing happened... hindi ko pa natry iformat sa menu kasi nga gusto ko munang makita sa control panel kung magfunction ung procedure sa manual... is it normal mga bro?
