hi guys,,,makisali na rin ako,,ang saya kasi ng mga posts...update ko lang yung mga sketches but in the meantime my concept is simple lang naman,,,it revolves around the song "bahay kubo",,hehehe,,,i think we all know the song nman...but i don't know if sumbody has already used the song as concept for this competition,,,please inform me right away,..but anyway,,,as my concept for a sustainable design,,such "bahay" should integrate a garden where the inhabitants could plant some vegetables or any crops for personal consumption...like the song says,,"ang halaman doon ay sari-sari" nyahaha,,,kinda funny but i think it has a great implication in self sustainability,, and of-course,,the "spinning cube" idea is reserve na cguro sa final stage ng presentation...other features will be discuss as the work progressess...good luck to everyone,,sana makatapos din ako...first time pa nman akong sumali ng competition ditu...

Hi to all cgpians,,here's my final presentation:
PART ONE:
To design a future bahay kubo, a "payag" is relatively new to me,,although most of the theories of every green buildings here in the philippines are said to be inspired by the principles of the bahay kubo,,yet i never heard making claims of its future, not until this competittion came out in which a lot of very good ideas emerged. Truly, the bahay kubo could never be forgotten since it has emerged as an icon already to each one of us.

The bahay kubo of the future is not just the traditional bahay we had before..It must adopt to the changing needs of its inhabitants. To formulate a design solution, i tried to ask a few questions:
1)what could be the factors or aspects that determine the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the future?
2)what is there in the future that the inhabitants need so as these could be incorporated in the bahay itself?
These questions are my guidelines to arrive with a particular solution.
I then draw a diagram to show the relationship of the the different factors concerning the solution:

The food has a large scope and cannot be contained by a solution which has a limited space. Of course,, you cannot grow a ricefield in your backyard or you wanted to eat and grow apples but you live in a
desert,,it's very difficult because food variety requires a lot of space of different geographical locations. Therefore the main focus of this solution is narrowed down to the 3 remaining needs: Water, Energy and Shelter.
Why Water?
How much is a bottled mineral water today compared to its price when you were still a child?
When i was a child i never thought of water to be sold in the future.. And the current price is increasingly alarming...Because access to clean water today has a greater demand due to urbanization,,,the water table below the ground is beginning to be contaminated already..What more in the future?
Therefore,,,the Future Bahay Kubo does not tap on the water line in the future...The Bahay Kubo integrates technology to be self sufficient to have its own clean water.

perhaps you might ask:
1.) A water closet that extracts water and directly treats waste, or a tank that treats urine?
2.)A treatment tank that sterilizes water by UV light?
3.)A purifier tank that removes bad elements in the water even killing e. coli?
4.)Or a machine that creates water?
Don't worry dude, i asked those questions myself,,and the answer i found was "yes'.
1.) Yes, water from fecal matters and urine could be extracted and could be further treated,, the technology that is being used by astronauts to recycle water in space.

PART TWO:

WHY ENERGY?
Since the discovery of electricity, man is so stick with it...Sometimes,,we could feel that life without electricity isn't working at all."MAN IS DEPENDENT WITH ENERGY" Energy powers our daily works and we can't afford to lose such power or we will go back to the very basic,,a fan instead of an electric fan,,or sending messages through snail mails instead of e-mails...A lot of eco-friendly alternative energy is spurting anywhere today, thanks to the media that reports on the earth's destruction path,,people are getting more aware of the destructive powers these oils and coal fuels contributes to the environment. Among of the popular alternative sources are solar and wind powers...
But the Bahay kubo of the future does not rely on these sources..It relies on a far more efficient technology:MAGNETS

The downside of solar and wind powers is its inconsistency."The magnets works 24/7 anytime anywhere, though which the limited lifespan is of 1300 years",oh yeah,like you can live all those years..On the other hand nanotech batteries,are the new breed of batteries which can store a very large amount of energy.

Finally" The Mainframe control system" is like an operating system in your pc,,only that the pc is the house...This is just an idea since of all the technologies that surrounds the inhabitants,,an efficient control system is necessary to synchronize and easily monitors its entirety...Just an example of how this system operates: The water tanks has minimum and maximum water levels on which if water approaches the minimum water level,,the water purification process and water creator machine automatically resume the clean water production,,but if a critical maximum level is being approached,,the operation automatically goes to a stop..I say that the future has far more technology that outpace today's modern intelligent buildings, and the bahay kubo of the future will be the forefront of building intelligence...

PART THREE:

The primary materials used in this structure are metals, plastics and recycled woods..METALS are mainly used since this bahay is conceived to be a modular folding structure...this could be packed and delivered to any site anywhere which is far more economical in construction..The bedroom is circular in plan and could be further subdivided in the center to create an additional private space.The collapsible walls are guided by "linear magnetic tracks" to better facilitate the walls which is frictionless and does not wear its end and base.

"CONCEPT AS TO FORM:THE SPINNING CUBE":
Although the term "spinning cube" could be easily associated with the movable parts of the bahay, like the rotating roof blades and the rotating core,,,the concept behind the form has a far deeper meaning than the function itself:
