Eco Village in the Philippines
...Hi! Good Day!
I'm new here..architecture student and graduating this semester..
just want to know your opinions about having an eco village/ housing here in our country..
was it a great idea or making a huge difference and impact in our country if it is a substitute for
a low cost housing project which may be a relocation for families who lives in slums?
thanks for your opinion..
it can be a great help for my thesis... [left]

Re: Eco Village in the Philippines
there is no problem on this kind proposal as long as you can justify all necessary data to come up for a usable materials for habitat.ex. the recycling process, component process etc., im telling you this thing for you to be prepared in your defense cuz im a former archi faculty, for this type of proposal, dont concentrate only on design but make it sure that you have the complete data with respect to building technology and and proper application and so on.....

Re: Eco Village in the Philippines
This is a great idea. But it has to be a "research or study" first before being implemented. Madaming loop holes since it's gonna be a low cost housing and sustainable.
Sa totoo lang, magqualify ang mga squatters or informal settlers dito sa partial definition na recycled materials. Pasok na pasok. Pero bakit hindi maganda?
So ang ginawa natin is to relocate them sa cavite or laguna... bakit hindi successful, best "eco village model" na dapat yun.
Paano ang waste management?
I'm just enumerating these problems para mainspire ka pa to do your research on this eco village.
We have two like this na very successful, I think you can learn from them. Pero also take note, one is a prison. The one in palawan. The other one naman is a leprosy colony.
Good Luck!

Re: Eco Village in the Philippines
Maybe you can get ideas from the DATE competition around two years ago. They have protocols guidelines and things like that for a disaster resilient yet cheap eco-village.
Also, if your target is people from the slums and if your site is in a "slum area" (meaning you will somewhat "renovate" the place) then make sure that you can accomodate the same number of people/families or more. Good luck!
