Sketchup Tips for Beginners

First topic message reminder :

I think many SU users her can give some quick tips for beginners. share yours.

here are some from me.

1. always take note of using the x, y and z axis. be sure to look at the color of your lines (red for x axis, green for y axis and blue for blue axis.

2. Start using groups early, makes stuff a lot easier. Also start how to edit group, close group, open group etc. this is also useful if you want to export your model in max.

3. Use the left, right and scroller button of your mouse. you can navigate the model easily

middle mouse button to orbit
middle mouse button + shift to pan
and the scroll wheel to zoom

4. Use keyboard shortcuts. you can also tailor your own shortcuts

5. when selecting, be careful, you might be selecting objects behind the wall. turn on xray mode if possible

6. Learn what is "Inferencing" once you know this, modelling is pretty quick and easy.

7. learn about useful rubies. like "mirror".

8. Use layers, it makes the scene manageable

9. Purge entire model regularly

10. Lastly enjoy Sketchup.

newbie din po ako pero tip ko sa kapwa ko newbies, enjoy lang sa paggamit and pag-aaral ng su. sa una lang po mahirap pag di pa sanay pero pag nakita na yung output masarap sa pakiramdam. tapos po wag po mahihiya magtanong sa mga su guru gaya ni sir nomeradona.

salamat nga po pala sa mga tips and tutorials ng mga guru. everyday na po ako nagbabrowse dito and everyday po madami ako natututunan na isinishare ko naman po sa mga kasama ko.

Tip -- if ang workflow nyo is AUTOCAD to SKETCHUP

avoid nyo ang maraming pag-b-block sa autocad.
or ang "Repetitive" na pag-b-block sa isang object na nakaBLOCK na
to join another "Block objects ALSO".

Reason:
kasi pagka nasa SU ka na then import mo ung file mong AutoCad na yun.
kahit gaano kabilis ang PC mo.
it will stuck at 99% and still Loading.
those 'Many' blocked components
and it will take hour(s)
but the end is. magiging BLANKO ang inimport mo.

Mga sir tanong lang po, pano po ba magmodify ng materials gamit VRAY? Kasi kapag gumagawa ako ng new material sa VRAY matl editor wala nag-aappear na new material sa "MATERIALS" window ko. napanood ko kasi sa youtube.. nung nag "ADD VRAY MATERIAL" ung tutor e automatic nag appear ung material sa "MATERIALS" window.. is there a problem regarding the compatibilty? gamit ko ksi SU 8 pro at ung VRAY ko pang SU 6 o 7 lang ata.. Hope u can help me. I'm just new in using SU & other plug ins of it. Salamat mga sir! Kung gusto nyo ng SU 8 pro willing ko i-share ung copy ko.

wag kang gumawa ng materials sa material editor ng vray. kasi mahihirapan ka sa mapping at paglink ng materials. better do the material in sketchup, finalize mo mapping mo. sa bagong version automatic na magkakaroon ng bagong vray material kapag gumawa ka sa su. so rule, always do materials in SU muna.

Sir kahit po gumawa ako ng material sa SU wla rin lumalabas sa VRAY matl editor... ang gngawa ko na lang right-click ko ung surface>VRAY for SU>Create Matl>VRAY linked matl... ok din po b ung ganun? Salamat po.

yikes you are still using the very first vray... magupdate ka na.

ah.. gnun pu ba? cge po, salamat sir! wla p tlga ko alm sa paggamit ng vray eh.. hehe.. ngayon ko p lang tlga to gagamitin..

Sir ano nga pla ung latest version ng VRAY for SU? What I found on the internet is VRAY 1.48.66... un po nakalagay.. ok na b un? salamat sir! God Bless!

Pero Sir sa tingin ko ok na ung VRAY na nakuha ko kasi coordination na between SU Materials window & VRAY Matl editor. Salamat sir sa reminders. makikibasa na lang po ako sa mga tutorials dito..

maraming bug yung 1.48.66.. para sa akin pinakamaganda and 1.48.91 up//

ano pu ba ung bug na un? What is the effect of that to the computer? or to the rendering output? And 1 more question sir, nagdownload ako ng materials sa rendertextures.com... pag unzip ko ng file meron 3 laman which is diffuse, displacement & normal... para saan po ba ung Normal? thanks sir!

bug simply is a program glitz...

yung normalmap ginangamit ko sa bump map slot. instead of a bump map.

is it possible to write in simple words. i ba ban kanamin kapag nagpatuloy kang mag text speak.

just import drawing file thats it.

they have free but with limitations.

new ako gagamit ng sketch-up,actually di talga ko nag3d model.gusto ko matuto,hope maturuan nyo ko,khit sa sketch-up.
