Thesis Problems

Hi Guys. Since dumadami na din ang gusto ng mga ideas ng thesis. And after thinking about it, I came up with this idea thread to help students, professionals and lawmakers the research or think about the suggested ideas.

Here, everybody can share anything that will benefit the majority. I have a lot of ideas(mostly problems I see all around) and I can't even come up with a good solution. That's why I think, it's just good to have this. Let me start a few.

1. Sidewalk Design Guidelines. Kung magagawan natin to ng research, magiging maaliwalas ang paglalakad natin kahit saan. I know may existing na guidelines, but I think it is not enough. Sakop din nito ang bike lanes and mga pedestrian crossings. Best example is The Fort in Taguig, but we need and nationwide implementation.

2. Pasig Riverside Development. Before, Riverside lots are the most expensive, dahil extraordinary ang view nito, pero sa pasig, mukhang wala ng buhay ang riverside, but we can do something about this, we can generate so much income from this. The government should rethink this. Tourism in riverside cruise, etc...

3. Heritage Reconstruction Preservation Guidelines. And dami nating old buildings na sobrang ganda pa. We should have a guideline on how to reuse them. Pwedeng facade lang ang itira, then ibang iba na ang loob or a complete restoration project. Yung sa lawton nalang, maayos lang ang metropolitan theater, isang malaking breakthrough sa history na yun.

4. Commuter Bus Stop Redesign. Merong proposal daw dati na sa gitna na ang bus terminal, same sila sa linya ng MRT. Sabi sakin very effective daw ito, pero mahihirapan daw iimplement sa edsa. I think pwede gawan to ng new study. I think it's very effective too.

5. New Overpass Design. I know this is just very simple, pero pag ginawan ng isang magandang study ito, may ikagaganda pa ang existing overpass na hindi gaanong ginagamit ng mga matitigas ang ulo. Mas gusto pa din tumawid sa highway.

6. Public Toilet Design. Small items, but it will have a very big impact.

7. Inter-Modal Railway Terminal. Paganda na ang train system natin, kaso ang lalayo ng transfers. Kailangan pag-aralan ng mabuti ito para sa efficient travel.

8. Public Market Design. Tingin tingin nalang kayo sa mga public market natin, iilan lang ang maganda.

9. Vertical Garden Integration to Public Buildings. I did my own research on this at unti unti ko ng nabubuo. Si Patrick Blanc ang pinakasikat dito, but if we can make a cheaper alternative for tropical countries, I think sisikat din tayo.

10. Socialized Housing. Research on a very effective type of socialized housing. Right now ang lumalabas, para lang ginawang vertical squatters ang structure.

Ito lang muna ang maisip ko. Based ito sa mga nakikita ko sa totoong buhay. I'll add more pag may naisip pa ako. And please share your ideas too. Ok lang na magkapareho ang mga students sa thesis nila, we need the research output anyway. And hopefully maimplement and makatulong tayo sa bayan natin.

Tama ka bro. Hydroponics. Nauso to sa mexicon at california, yung mga indoor marijuana plantation. Although hindi it maganda but we can get something from it.

1. Vertical garden
2. Vertical or wall fruit farm
3. Salad wall - grow lettuce in your wall
4. Water system in vertical plantation
5. Garden housing - bahay na yung mga garden or garden na ang buong bahay.

i think meron naman po, kaso di ganun ka complete. and parang cinonvert lang yung units from architefctural standards. sana nga meron talagan magresearch ng pinoy anthropometrics.

sana din baguhin na ang building code ng naka adapt sa modern times, medyo marami kasi dun na parang hindi na applicable.
atsaka maraming parts dun na may mga discrepancies, kaya nakakalito paminsan minsan.

One thesis i'd like to see, is the proposal for a general building code. Meaning, isang libro nalang ang titingnan for codes on bldg standards, fire standard, etc. Ngayon kasi, hiwalay pa ang fire code sa national building code natin. At ang masama pa ay, iba ang ruling sa fire code at sa NBC. Minsan malilito ka kung alin ang susundin mo.

This would be a good one to work on.

Tingin ko dapat maging strict ang goverment at local goverment unit sa pagpapatupad nito kasi may nakakapagpatayo ng structure ng walang buillding permit nakapag-ojt ako sa city hall tsk tsk tsk may mga nababayaran lang talaga na makagawa ng permit at uso ang kilala system. Madalas pa sa nagche2k hay nako.

These are actually really good ideas for thesis. Something that could actually contribute and relevant to society. Not to mention, very much feasible. Unfortunately, hindi ko alam kung bakit studies like these are dumped easily during proposal stage. Nagtaka pa iyung professor sa amin kung bakit inaalikabok yung mga thesis sa library. Hehe. I remember we were even told that in thesis, we create problems to solve. Totally contradicting.

Tama ka. Dapat nga solve the existing problem. Sana ganito ang mga thesis. Kahit isang batch lang.

yung mga nakapag thesis na po ok lang po ba kung ipost ninyo po dito yung naging thesis proposal ninyo para idea lang po sa mga baguhan..thanks...

how about going to technical documents.

1. Perspective Rendering Technique Part 2 ( follow up noong naunang perspective rendering thesis na naging handbook)

2. NBC - Illustrated Version ( para mas madaling maunawaan ng mga archi students, syempre andiyan iyong researching kung ano ang interpretation ng mga famous Filipino Architects)

3. Graphics Standard - philippine and or metric version ( pueding gawin ito as a group)

4. Building Construction Estimate - medyo obsulete na kase iyong ibang handbooks

5. Building Structural Design and Analysis for Architects - mga simple formulation para magkaroon ang Architects ng idea sa mga structural sizing base on simple and common method. Minsan kase design tayo ng design tapus pagdating sa structural medyo affected aesthetically iyong ginawa natin. So kung mayroong konting knowledge ang architects sa structural sizing, mavivisualized niya effectively iyong ginagawa niya.

Wala kase tayong mga technical documents pagdating sa mga ito. kadalasan borrowed initially sa american standard. karamihan sa mga nakikita ko is more on architectural design ang mga thesis. walang nag-aatempt sa mga technical documents and theories

Actually iyong nasa number 5 ko, meron na ako, enhancement na lang and proper illustrative guidelines. sa ms excel ginawa. provide mo lang ang tributary area at floor to floor height plus design criteria mo, ibibigay nya mga size ng common structural members and its rebars. nakalatag na rin doon ang analysis supporting the computation. ( Iyon nga lang mababawasan workload ng Civil Engineer kapag na-materialized ito).

Hello, I have a suggestion too. How about a Filipino Martial Arts Gym design. Chinese, Japanese, Korean Martial art gyms greatly reflect their respective cultures and disciplines. Maybe it's time we gave FMA some more character too using architectural solutions. Pwedeng specific art, like eskrima, or baka pwede gumawa ng design para mas maraming arts na sort of unified gym design.

Since nagiging active nanaman ang Pinas sa mga international sports competition, at may mga future sporting events na gaganapin sa Pinas in the future, why not do a thesis gaya ng mga Olympic Parks, Olympic Stadiums, Olympic Villages, etc.

Suggestion lang sa mga mag tthesis, be creative sa mga design ng buildings, don't limit yourselves sa mga government projects/ideas (although the ones that I suggested ay mga govt works, pero basta gets nyo na yun). Pag Govt projects kasi expected na maliit ang budget kaya limited din ang mga ideas ng isang nagtethesis. Be creative, bring back the "art" in architecture.

ganyan po sana yung format. my design concept is contemporary architecture. patulong po. salamat!!!!
