Pilipino CG Artist, are we behind in this industries?

Indian artist-they work with walt disney (thinkerbell and more)
Korean artist-disney channel (Dibo the gift dragon)
Malaysian artist-disney channel (upin and ipin, also have their own full length 3d movies where "upin and ipin" got thier debut)

I know that there are many talented cg pilipino, but where are they? they work in architectural firm here and abroad as ofw, work as a layout artist in advertising firm or web design company and so on.....why don't we consider that cg is serous job.

may punto si The-hand hindi talaga lahat ng working pinoy ay ganun. Tingin ninyo kung nahuhuli tayo bakit kinukuha paring ng mga kilala sa larangan ng animation or 3d ang mga pinoy katulad natin?may ugali ang mga pinoy na matiyaga sa trabaho and madaling matuto sa kahit anung larangan ng trabaho kaya its impossible na we are behind. tama din si kat palmares

lahat tayo may sariling pananaw sa kung ano ang nakikita natin wag lang sana natin isipin at gawing negative may skills tayo na kaya magbigay pangalan sa kanila. sana sabay-sabay natin isipin na sa hinaharap pangalan ng pinoy ang makikita natin na sikat sa buong mundo
lahat naman may punto eh negative lang talaga mag isip ang iba.

long answer: oo nga merong mga pinoy na kasama na gumawa sa big budget 3d projects, pero minority lang tayo dun. konti lang talaga mahilig mag pursue ng 3d dito.

konti lang din dito yung matino talaga na school na nagtuturo ng 3d kasi malaki kailangan na budget kasi para sa computers, software, etc. although marami dito yung mga tipong self study kasi madali makakuha ng pirated na software para matuto.

buti nalang nga merong internet (the great equalizer) kasi kung wala nyan, sobrang konti talaga ng pinoy na nag33d tapos sobrang behind pa tayo lalo. oo nga na meron magagaling, pero lets face it in general behind parin talaga tayo. kelan ba huling na discuss dito yung siggraph? or pinoy na na feature sa d'artiste books? or pinoy co. na pinagusapan sa E3 o sa tokyo game convention?

tingin ko macocompare natin sa music industry ang 3d industry ngayon. parang meron tayong charice pempengco at arnel pineda, pero yun lang dalawa lang. tska siguro sa isang charice pempengco merong 10 na pangtapat yung ibang bansa na singer.

ok lang yan bro, at least meron, i think ngayon palang ulit magboboom ang industry, nakikita ko lang.

we started cgp to help newcomers in the industry, at nafulfill na natin ang first goal natin, now we will be trying to advance to the next level. medyo malakihang discussions na. in time, I believe we will fulfill this.

Kung may pera lang talaga, I'll personally sponsor anyone to join siggraph and other conventions. kung sa publications naman, nandyan madalas si jeffmd nafefeature at si enigma. so well represented pa din @90m population compared to india and china.

I was at the Hongkong FILMART expo last March with Philippine movie director Tony Y. Reyes and have met many of the pinoy attendees. I've also attended the seminars and have met some of the exhibitors, both foreign and pinoys. I'll try to sum up my initial observations in my next post. Perhaps, it will give us some clues why some countries fare well and some doesnt..
