Expo 2010, officially Expo 2010 Shanghai China (simplified Chinese: 中国2010年上海世界博览会; traditional Chinese: 中國2010年上海世界博覽會; pinyin: Zhōngguó 2010 Nián Shànghǎi Shìjìe Bólǎnhuì) is being held in the city of Shanghai, People's Republic of China, from May 1 to October 31, 2010. It is a World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions. The theme of the exposition is "Better City – Better Life" and signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as the "next great world city".[1] It is the most expensive Expo in the history of the world's fairs. The expo Logo features the Chinese character 世 ('world', Chinese "shì") modified to represent three people together with the 2010 date. It is also the largest World's Fair site ever at 5.28 square km.

More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world to come and visit the World Expo. More than 70–100 million visitors are expected to visit the expo, the largest in history.[2][3]

Philippines
The Philippines pavilion

The Philippines pavilion, which will encompass more than 2,000 square meters, will be the largest exhibition in the country's history with the World Expo.[32] The theme of the pavilion will be "Performing Cities."[32]

Filipino architect Ed Calma's architectural firm designed the building.[32] A montage of giant hands, representing both well-known and ordinary Filipinos, will be featured across the pavilion's facade. The hands are meant "to emphasize the human dimension in urbanization, and to assert the Filipino's genius at (hand) crafting vital relationships through work, art, and play."[32] The interior of the pavilion will feature exhibitions, videos, performances showcasing the Philippines' best cities, based on standards used by the World Bank.[32] The Filipino cities that will be featured at the Expo are Calbayog, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo City, Naga, Makati, Manila, Malaybalay, Puerto Princesa, San Fernando City, La Union, and Taguig.[32] Other exhibits will include concerts, a boutique and a cafe.[32]

The pavilion will feature daily performances by Filipino artists and entertainers, including the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Philippines, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, pianist Cecille Licad, Joanna Go, Rachelle Gerodiea and the group, Kontra Gapi.[32]

The Philippines has previously won gold for best pavilion at both the Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan, and the Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain.[32]

The estimated cost of the Philippines' participation in the Expo will be PhP450 million.[32] Half of the expenses will be covered by Filipino-Chinese chambers of commerce and corporate sponsors.[32] President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to attend the Philippine Independence Day celebrations at the pavilion on June 9, a few days before the actual holiday, in what may be her last official foreign trip before leaving office later that month.[32]

our pavilion looks simple.. outside, but im sure the interior is awesome again!
