Titanium Scales - Practice
2D displacement taken from http://bertrand-benoit.com/blog/2010/03/31/frank-gehry-style-titanium-scales/. It's quite easy but the file handling was quite huge while generating the maps.
HDRI reflection (no IBL), reverted back to exponential (wasn't happy with the reinhard output), some post processing applied
Day
Night
Playing w/ PP
There are some minor scaling issues that I plan to fix when I got the time to recreate one of Gehry's structures For now - these are just impressions

Cool!!really cool sir celes..Ive seen one of the actual building and i must say theyre almost the same except the corners and parang yung installation e naka overlap sa ilalim ng bawat isa.Ok din yung pagkakadisplace, meron ba kayong ginamit na normal bump sir?or isang displace map lng talga?

Re: Titanium Scales - Practice
thanks zdesign and idol denz
yeah i figured - ung ke alex roman meron pang ridges but i dunno if that was accurate kasi sa walt disney theatre, it is as you have described it - naka overlap lang.
the method is simple as how the tutorial explained it - just needed the mask, the displacement and glossiness map lang, wala nang bumps. 2D disp lang and very minimal (20-30mm lang ginamit ko for this exercise).

Yeah, and ala kang makikitang kahit anong revit.Ive seen AR visuals as well and since he's from spain i guess accurate yung sa kanya.
2D mapping gamit nyo sir?Pano yung sa corners?Hindi ba magkakaroon ng gap yun?

@jeff
hmm baka dun sa guggenheim sa bilbao ganun ung installation.
2D and 3D mapping depende sa shape ng structure. ung corners yup me gap. you've been there right? eto ung reference http://z.about.com/d/architecture/1/0/b/m/WaltDisneyConcertHall52268353.jpg and that's how it will behave sa displacement kasi sharp ung corners and walang mesh sa top.

Re: Titanium Scales - Practice
add ko rin - ung workflow sa meshes - box, uvw mapping, before ko iapply ang other modifiers like the FFD or bend modifiers. this way sumusunod ung map sa contour ng mesh.

hehehehe.
Thanks for the chat sir..
Oks na oks din yung last posted image nyo. Ganda nung clouds and match dun sa structure..
