skill requirements: (all of it)
3ds max 2008
-animator (important)
-particle system (important)
-vray
-modeling (is just a plus but not required)

Adobe Photoshop (a plus)
-matte painting

Adobe After Effects (a plus not required)

Knows how to speak Nihongo is a plus




A word from my Pinoy Seatmate here.

First off, it's in Japan. Yes, it is. Now, if you're considering this because of some weaboo/japanophile fantasy,
then heading off to the nearest Comic Alley will be easier and less taxing. Granted, having those will help, but
as someone on this forum always says, 'Be Professional'. Japan is no joke.

Ok, now off to the weeding.

You'll be working for 12-14 hours a day. Saturdays. Sundays, good chance too.

You'll be working under slave-drivers, who are led by slave-masters, who are,
in turn, OWNED by overlord slave traders. You'll be the grunt.

You'll see your 'creative freedom' stepped on by the directors. They'll ask you to change it. Perfect the shot.
And then they'll step on it again. Harder.

You'll see your so-called 'advanced knowledge' be compiled as 'basic', 'rudimentary', or 'crude'. Unless you're
bad-a$$, of course. Then they'll label it as 'beginner'.

Now, I'll admit I'm exaggerating. By about 5%. But we go on anyway.

You'll get to bed at 1AM, probably. If you're lucky. If it's a normal day, you'll see sleep by 3AM. Everyday. For
as long as you're here. Granted, though, you can wake up 10am, 11am.

You'll see your social life shrink down to a size you can hold in your hand. Ten friends, you're very, very lucky.
Be prepared to see the same old mugs, all 3 or 4 of them, every day for years.

You'll be earning roughly twice-thrice of what you'll can get in the
Philippines, but you'll be spending 3x on food. 2x on bills. But it'll be comfortable enough.

You'll be far away from family, from friends, from girlfriends, boyfriends, your dog, pong pagong, whoever.

And I could go on. But those are what I can skim off the top.

So why even go here?

1) It's Japan. Akihabara, Anime, Jap chicks and all that. Eat your heart out, weaboos.
2) You'll level up so bad, it's like weight gain on doughnuts. Big ones, about 2 feet across each. You'll be a certified (almost, anyway) 3D (minor) diety upon getting back home. Just don't do it too early.
3)Um.. us? Living with us in our Man-Pad's taking bachelor life to a new level.

Well, up to you. In the end, it's gonna be fun if you do make it.

hope u can update us as well who the lucky candidiate will be...
the slave who snags the jap chicks (this is in my bucket list and my chances are nil!)..and perhaps ask the new 3d diety to show us his newfound powers we mortals only dream of possessing. lol! :-)

First - snap the japanese chicks is one of the biggest exxageration I've ever heard.

The description is pretty much close to reality but if you aren't for a totaly different cultural immersion - better go somewhere else - singapore beers a lot cheaper than kuro raberu and they pay three times as well.

Nevertheless - terabyte is a cool place to be - I know, because I was the one who set up this whole cg shebang in there.

My advice to you guys is to ask for what you need - living with other boys in the same pad might be nice for a few months but it gets stinky thereafter. It is still nice to ask for your own privacy. Believe me you'll need it.

Hello to everyone, I'm 'kakashi's seatmate', the one who devised the weeding part.

The article might be unconventional and a wee bit exaggerated, but you CAN expect most of them to be true.

For the 3D deities, they're already there.. one's up and running things in Larger than Life, one's a one-man-army doing CGI scenes for a new Nintendo game (starts with M) and one is Vertex himself.

As for 'Jap Chicks' schtick.. over the top, yes, but we can see some here who already has a jap wife. But is that might be an exception, not a rule, of course. Have I got your false hopes up yet?

And to Vertex... Full thanks to you for setting this up. We're having fun here.

ah, yeah.. still no applicants? We're still open for demo reels from those serious and gutsy enough.

Hello Everyone..

I'm reviving this topic because there are new incoming projects and the company is moving to a new office.. meaning, there's a bit of room for expansion.

Almost the same conditions apply, that's why there's no need to reformulate the threatening opening message we have posted here.

However...

With the expansion, there's a lot of improvement. You can go home earlier, spend less time in the office than the listed 12-hours, as long as you can do your job on time, with the required quality. Weekends are now free, for the most part; Saturday is just there to pick up loose ends you left out during the week... or you can party the night out, if you're willing to shell out the cash. This is Tokyo, after all.
