House to Catch the Forest - updated with Japanese Lanterns
Below is the original post - here's the new angle with floating Japanese lanterns (surrealist approach inspired from Alex Roman's stunning T&S video)
Another interpretation of a Tezuka house - this time it's a cottage that seems to float in the forest, with its roof tilted to optimize the view of the treetops.
Overall view:

Hataw ka master... Second image rocks... Just curious; how long did this take, from model to final render-post pro?...

Re: House to Catch the Forest - updated with Japanese Lanterns
thanks guys. i enjoyed doing this one, it's my favorite
@cloud:
plants were generously supplied by alex et al, model of the house was based on a photo from tezuka's book. took me roughly 6 hours - to model the house (in max), apply lighting and materials, setting up the environment, plus scattering all those plants. started rendering at 2500 pixels at 12 noon today, finished after roughly 10 hours. post processing was minimal - only added the sky and adjusted the curves.

thanks snow_blind, vraysun + some vray lights, no HDRI in the environment this time, just applied HDRI in the reflection slot.
it's a midday scene so i reckon any influence of an environment map becomes superficial. plus there is enough detail in the surroundings to compensate for the lack of an HDRI environment.

Re: House to Catch the Forest - updated with Japanese Lanterns
sure thing. ill send it via yousendit.
beware though, the trees and plants have glossiness applied to them and take very long to render. the price to pay for a better quality output :p
