Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
Hi, Guys here is my latest 3d port folio.
Below is the initial concept, as you can see it started out quite simple, but i couldn't help it I ended up doing lots of stuff even after the sculpting and during the retopology. This happens a lot to me most of the time after a few glimpse of the concept I easily get tired of it or i see something is not balance and ended up adding or changing all throughout the process.
The final pose will be posted later, rending just takes up lots of time.
C and C are mostly welcome.

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind

@reyknow - I will post more pics soon. I'm just applying new learned techniques and editing from few constructive critiques.
@fpj999 - you can do it as long as you can handle all the headaches and have the right attitude. Just like one 3d illustrator said:
"I believe that this fear is the power that makes my artwork possible.
I suppose that everyone wants to be a good artist.
Sometimes we hesitate, not knowing which one is correct, and worrying about whether I have the talent or the right aptitude everyday.
To become a good illustrator or animator, we need talent.
However, I think that the best talent is patience. " - Kjun

Here is the Final Image...Posing
Sorry if it took sometime to post this. I have considered few significant comments and this some changes.
First is the Scale and Proportion - from the previous post the head is big and the body is too rigid, does not resemble a real human scale. So I adjusted it to at least look like on his late teens and early 20s.
Second is the Skin - I did researched about how to properly project real Hi-Res pictures onto the model, and create believable texture.
Third is the Hair - Redone the hair and learned how to properly composite on photoshop.
This project is quite fun and artistically challenging. Looking forward to my next portfolio. I hope I would be able to land an entry level position with this.
Comments and Critiques are mostly welcome.

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
asteg, nice.
overall ok.

Wow sir galing! Did you paint it over sa photoshop? I mean yun model mismo. Para kasing nasobrahan dude. Yung textures sa character sheet look different pagdating doon sa beauty shot.
Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
Everyone - Thanks for your comments and critiques all of this would serve as fuel for my next portfolio
@kula_wende - Only the concept, few retopology, transposition, and the projection of the skin onto the model were done on Zbrush, everything else is 3dsMax.
@pressure - thanks for your once again straight forward critique.
@reyknow - I'll try to find time to render the wires.
@boyluya - The character sheet that I posted and the beauty shot are in a way different since there were major changes done since the first post. None were paint over in photoshop except for color correction, because I seem to lean on a darker palette when lighting the scene to achive subtle shadow.

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
Everything is superb except the pose. It's a girly pose for a masculine archer. Maybe you should reconsider that. Dapat matipuno ang stance. chest out at malapad ang coverage. Right now, mukha syang mahinhin at very fragile.
But then again, superb modeling, texturing and rendering.

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
For the latest comments thanks
about the pose and the theme. Seeing archers on movies specially Japanese animation, they are the kind of figure that are sensitive and feminine. So I guess I got that perception, and interpreted very strongly on this image.
I'll try to interpret better on my future portfolios, but for now I'm happy with this.

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
Aproved!

Sir bokks, I think you have a very considerable side of idea for an Archer... but for me, more often, Archers are meant to be slim and petite in terms of character designs and concepts, as they fight in long range... mostly seen in most movies or animations. unlike warriors like swordsmen for instance, being a close range fighters, they are intentionally big in proportion in character designs and concepts... So I think this Archer's built and design is nicely done in terms of concept and design, from the built, costumes and stance, the artist was able to capture a typical archer from the looks and feel. Also, this character may have been designed for a purpose in the story or game, who knows...

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
Sayang ganda pa naman nung arm guard... well anyway... AWESOOOOME pa rin mehn eheh

Re: Oriental: Warrior of the Wind
@Archi.Karl - I actually quit my job last december as Buyer/Planner in a manufacturing company just to focus all of my time in 3d modelling.
I'm searching at the moment. But it's quite hard to find a job here in the Philippines.
I hope I don't end up on the same position I left for. If everything fails maybe I'll purse my course I took in college which is computer science, and put 3d modeling on back burner for a while .
