Easy HDRI (UPDATED)
UPDATE:
Q - What are HDRI maps?
hdri vs ldri - click to enlargeA - HDRI is short for High Dynamic Range Image. It's a special kind of image that contains much more color info than normal images (low dynamic range images). HDR images are 64bit, and contain all the lighting information of a specific environment, going from for example the super bright sun to the darkest shadows. They are created by combining differently exposed images from the same subject. When shot with special equipment, you can create 360° panoramas, so you captured the complete environment.
HDR images can be used in 3D programs as a light source to illuminate your scene, creating very natural lighting effects. They also provide much more realistic reflections compared to LDR images used as reflection maps. On the right is a comparison, the same scene lit with a HDRI (top) and a LDR image (bottom). Notice the difference in shadows, and also the dull reflections on the plastic and glass material. - Excerpts from http://www.aversis.be/hdri/hdri-faq.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made an update in loading the hdri into your material slot using get material.
First is click on the get material button
Then browse your HDRI from your library. If you don't have one yet, download it from this link >>> http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html
Adjust your HDRI according to your preference. Just play with it until you get your desired output. You can rotate it vertical or horizontally, you can also increase its brightness through render mult(visible in render) and overall mult(visible on screen but not on render). Spherical environment is best to show the real look of the HDRI.

OLD POST:
Hi guys, this is a very brief process on how I use my HDRI. sa mga exercises ko, napansin ko na nagbrighten ang scene pag meron HDRI, also, meron parang randomness sa environment color and ngkakaron ng mood bigla ang isang scene. very visible ito pag marami kang shiny objects. and it goes a little something like this...
Step1 - Choose VrayHDRI as your diffuse material on your standard or vraymtl diffuse slot.
Step2 - Browse for .hdr on your materials library. if you don't have any, here are some free hdri maps from the web:
---> http://www.hdrimaps.com/
---> http://www.aversis.be/hdri/hdri-free.htm
Step3 - drag your VrayHDRI to your G.I. and Reflect/Refract Override slots.
and the results...
without HDRI - will reflect the existing background or reflect/refract override.
with HDRI
Hope this helps. good luck and enjoy!

Re: Easy HDRI (UPDATED)
Thanks mga bro at nagustuhan nyo.
@ronski: tama ka bro, yan ang direct way of doing it. Kaya ko lang inilagay sa diffuse, para pag nagpalit ako, mapapalitan lahat at mas mabilis magpalit ng map. Since hindi lahat ng scene pwede gamitan ng isang klase ng HDRI lang. lalo na sa color.

Re: Easy HDRI (UPDATED)
Hello Bokkins,
I didn't get why you'd need to put the hdri map on the diffuse slot.
BTW, the bright spots happen when the intensity of the hdri is way up high. You bring that down via setup at the bitmap loader popup.

welcome to cgp sir vertex..perhaps bokkins' method is the easiest though it may not give the best result. we need your expertise in this section.

Re: Easy HDRI (UPDATED)
hello sir V. sid's right about that. it's a process I've been used to from the start. since all the materials in the slot starts with a standard material setup, it was easy for me to just click on the diffuse slot. works the same with not making it my way. still, the end justifies the means I guess for me. as I've said. this is just one of those many ways. The tutorial is not concrete, it's just a reference(not even a guide) to progress more in our chosen field. thank sir V, welcome home.
Re: Easy HDRI (UPDATED)
