go to mode- where ull find cmyk/rgb/multichannel/grayscale and so on...one of them is lab color.then go to your channel click e lightness channel and copy to new image.thats ur basic file,usually ill copy another layer/multiply now u got to really play w dodge and burn here.Enjoy
