GLOBAL ECONOMIC DOWNTURN-did it affect your job/career?

Ive been here in singapore for e last 17 yrs,and this is the 3rd recession im experiencing but this is e worst in my case.all my clients are holding up,and projects are getting rare.The worst of all 3d artist are being force to compete in terms of pricing,if you dont hav anything to differ ur work from them then ull be in e same boat.Yesterday i heard e news that e Architectural companies are starting to exercise retrenchment.

It did affect me in a way, we had an old project which was suddenly revived and had to finish in a week, so our designers had to came up with a concept development plan at the short time possible, and we the 3d people had to produce several images in a short period of time. Result, we had several sleepless night just to meet the deadline.

So far this recession isn't that brutal in a 3rd world country like the Philippines... I guess not yet. But the ripple effect shall soon spread further. Many of course are aware of this news but are afraid to discuss and we simply understand that. Let's just wait and see what the newly elect U.S. President would do about this. United States plays a VERY BIG ROLE on this matter.....

Hi sir Glensky, yup naapektuhan nga design and construction business ngayon.Like us we have a offices sa ilang part ng asia and kakaroon lang ng announcement dito sa office na stop hiring kami dahil nga sa bad economy ng mundo.We are suppose to hire 15 architects and 15 interior designers para dito sa bahrain office but dahil sa mga pangyayari,the company prefer na lng na kumuha ng resources sa ibang offices namin like Vietnam and madaming nag confirm from singapore office.I hope everything would be fine in the next months.Tsk tsk tsk.

good thread sir. i guess dahil dito alam na ng buong mundo na hindi dapat mag cling masyado sa america... i wonder how japan succeed on this time of recession...

even here in qatar, naging matumal ang projects dahil dito isa lang ang medyo ok now... pero hindi ko sigurado kung ok nga ba. Tumataas na naman ang remittance lol

thanks glensky sa thread na to. so far wala pa naman mga changes sa Philippines. although may recession nga, pro parang sa tingin ko, hindi naman dito gaanong affected. kasi parang we're leaving in the bottom na, there's no other way but up na tipo. wala ng ikababagsak pa. I'm thinking madaming jobs mag-oopen since other countries will opt for the cheaper and more efficient services. well, I'm hopeful. we will save the world.

I heard from some colleagues and d2 na rin sa Company nmin recently, lots of projects on hold hirap kasi mga clients for their loans approval sa banko dhl na rin sa economy crisis sa US at malaki epekto ito sa mga Companies sana nmn maging okey na ulit para walang mawalan ng trabaho at para hindi lalo maghirap ang Pinas..

dito sa vietnam, nauna na yung effect ng construction business nung yung inflation ay over 20 percent and not the recession. so nagkaruon ng mga corrective measures yung government even before that. so ngayon unti unting nagkakaroon ng sigla yung construction sector at real state.
mostly naapektuhan ng recession ay yung mga export based companies. kagabi ito rin yung usapan namin sa aming bible study, rami ding mga kababayan ang alam namin na candidate for retrenchment. but cheer up parin alam naman natin na ang hope talaga natin ay nasa kanya at hindi sa mga gobyerno...

dito naman sa skul so far tuloy parin ang expansion ng new buildings by next year. so i guess dito sa amin la namang epekto.. isang pasasalamat sa taas....

yep tama si bokkins nag mura nga un mga materials kaya lahat nang contractors boom cla ngayon yung mga construction dwg and shop dwgs tuloy tuloy lang and of course ser glensky mas magiging angat tayo dito sa singapore in terms sa sideline kc imbes na kunin nila un mga rendering company mas kukunin nila un mas mura parehas lang naman un gawa natin sa kanila (o mas maganda pa tayo) like sa crystal CG, AYA, AIP,Digital mirage, at VMW..umamin sa akin yung AIP takot cla sa pinoy na renderista imagine and baba daw nating sumingil half the price but the quality parehas din kaya mga kababayan ATTACK...

yup ang laki ng effect sa amin! DELAY LAGI ANG SAHOD NAMIN!!!!!!

di pa ramdam sa ngayon so far ganun pa rin based on previous trend--towards the end of the year nagpa-pile ang projects. still early to tell but i think there'll be tough times ahead. para sa mga may $$$ next year will be a good time to buy property. advice ko lang kung plano nyo mag apply o lumipat ng trabaho in these times, hwag sa malalaking companies.

Thank you sir Glensky for this thread, malaki ang epekto ng recession sa trabaho namin dito sa cebu, in fact we have to stop our operation because of it. Kaya tambay kami dito and still job hunting saan man sulok ng mundo. Sana makahanap na ng trabaho, malapit pa naman ang pasko. huhuhu...

lets hope for a better year 2009, and sa mga cgpips na naghahanap nang trabaho GOODLUCK!!!

so far ndi pa naman nraramdaman dito sa company namin daming project pa naman. and so many deadlines to meet. i think lahat ng company now nagpapakitang gilas. kung sino mas mabilis gumawa. pero maybe next year i pray na maging ok lahat. i feel fear all the time lalo na for my family. i think God has a plan and we must stick to our faith. So far sa Dubai affected masyado ang realstate business, ang company namin naka depend dito, hindi pa naman nagtatangalan ng trabaho pero sa iba tulad ng Damac at Nakheel 50 person a day....
kaso naudlot yung hinihingi kong increment. no more HIGHrise project for the meantime so far, balik sa villa ang work namin, local projects lang naman...
