varnished wood inquiry...
sirs/maam/masters pede hingi tulong?, im having poroblem to attain varnished wood furniture... hindi ko po mattain using shellac, nagiging saturated mxado at nawawala details ng grain, maybe hindi ko alam gamitin. eto po inaattain kong gloss or mas maganda pa sanang effect ng woodcoating.

actually, hanap kalang ng wood na ganyan ang grain. then simple gloss lang ok na. impression lang ang habulan mo, di naman kailangan ung real theory behind a varnished wood. lalo na kung hindi naman ang material ang focus mo at malayo sya sa scene. good luck!

Shellac is like legacy for your carpaints or anything that has a gloss coat. But it has a tendency to blow out the colors and it doesn't work well with vray not if you want physically correct shading.
If you are on vray use the vrayblend instead. Nest your base material on a highly glossy mat.
But for simplicity, the look above can be achieved using a wood diffuse map and a falloff controlled glossy reflection.

maraming salamat po sa insight master v_wrangler, as usual malaking tulong po kau sa aming novice. un po pala downside ng shellac. master v_wrangler question po ulit. wala pa po vrayblend sa vray version n ahawak ko, pede rin ho ba standard blend mat? pedeng insight po ulit sa paggamit nun? salamat po ulit.

Of course you can use Shellac with vray but I doubt you'll even like it.
Usually Shellac proves wonders when you want to nest for example, a material having wide highlights to another layer l;ike gloss having sharp reflective or hilight properties.
As bokks mentioned above - using a simple vraymat with glossy reflections can do the trick.
