The 3d Studio Max 2011-2020 Wishlist

Hi guys. Since most of us are familiar with the software and been using it for sometime now. I've plan on doing a simple survey on how the software could be improved. Most specially now that the industry is expanding so fast. What do you think are the things that guys from autodesk should include/improve or even remove from the package. Feel free to put anything, even the wildest you can think of. Everything is workable I believe.

1. improved architectural features like doors, windows, stairs, aec extended and maybe a roof and roofing generator.

Since 2009, the architectural features in previous versions of Max will probably be focused on the future development of 3dsmax Design. Remember that there are now two versions of 3dsmax for different markets - the regular max for the entertainment and Design which is more geared towards those working in the architectural visualization market.

My only wish is that I hope someday MAX can be separated into inxpensive modules - like for modeling, texturing, animation and effects.

Max out of the box is expensive, and seldom you find yourself using all the bells and whistles (specially for games development)

1. that there should be the ability to save/open between versions. if not.. that they don't upgrade every friggin year
2. resolve the file bloating problem
3. ability to really handle large datasets

sana makuha ng Max yung engine ng VRAY para wala ng plugins...deretcho na sa MAX

sana bumaba ang presyo ng max.. sana din marami ng pagpipilian na designs sa architectural like doors, windows etc.

Eto dude try mo.. The quality is as good as unreal engine 3 or any next/current-gen game engines..

for me sana magkaroon ng feature ang max like cad na can save to lower version para ma-open ung files kahit ginawa mo s higher version ng max... nde ung saveas mo pa sa other format...

Well I've been maxing since day one and file downgrade compatibility inst one of the things I've seen. Perhaps its the upward development of max's core architecture. Unfortunately (and most of the times) these newer technologies does not support the prior ones. And even if they do - it would bloat the 12 month development cycle or marketing wise - they cannot force people to upgrade anymore...

This is the very same reason why they decided to develop the bridge format such as FBX. While it isn't perfect it allows transport of datas between different autodesk platforms.

I've read somewhere that they have been developing more reliable communication tools for users of all their 3d applications.

Autodesk 3d Studio Max Design LT version. with the price range of $1000-$2000. I think reasonable na yun.

hindi bro, same pa din ang cost nila. it's playing around $3000-$5000. While you look at the difference between Autocad and Autocad LT, There's a big gap in between their prices respectively. I hope they could also device somthing like that, specially for those studios that do not use dynamics and other effects.

There are alot of studios that never used these extras. If Autodesk can trim down their software to fit these studios' requirements, I think we can already solve some of the problems. A simple survey could be very effective on which items not to include.

To as high as Php270K last year. It's down to Php180K this 2010.

am i being stupid or do you think 3ds can revert back to being like a DOS oprated program, so i do not have any operating system, just max, like way back in the day when 2ds max 3, before autodek, i love the program and its clean and powerful but no matter how little you have loaded, as soon as your running anything like vray, 25% average cpu is eaten by background serv's and the op sys, a quarter of mt render time is probably equated to having the option to run rubbish, ok gripe over but am still serious, lets rollback

- rotatable/parametric camera clipping plane
- camera zoom and parameters similar to vray's physical cam
- material editor: get material of selected object (one-click alternative to eyedropper)
- swap material (click 1st obj... swap material to...select 2nd obj)
- material editor: resize bitmap file and save as a new file (autoupdate, no need to exit max)
- text bookmarking feature (such as ms office's)
- resolve IRay's current issues (tons of them)
- multi-file open (not multi-max open)
- linux-based backburner

- integration of vray lights in max's 'light lister'

thanks Verts , will need to introduce layering in my max workflow !

the script currently supports up to max 2k10, waiting for 2k11 version.

sana yung render frame window, may tools ng photoshop.
tsaka modelling workflow ng sketchup.

- graphite modelling tools\dot ring (to have 'except outer edges of the mesh')

wish lang ng wish hehe!

- render lasso (render region na pwede mo icustomize sa shape na gusto mo)

i got a script before sir glen but can't remember were i save. and not sure if supported w/ the latest max.
