Workshops anyone? Empty Workshops anyone?

Post by v_wrangler Thu Aug 20, 2009 1:34 am

If we arrange for a one-day computer graphic workshop to be held in manila, what particular topic would you want discussed? When and for how much would you want to share in the costs of staging such an event?

Please post your ideas.

2. 3D Animation
3. 3D Effects made easy or Mga Easy Techniques ( Mga Tips/ Shortcuts/ other ways na pede diskartehan, aside from mamanumanuhin sa rendering etc.)
4. Tips on Camera Angles/shots (do's & dont's)
5. Lighting a scene (standard & advance)
6. Modelling Techniques (easy ways) maganda kung about splines

*Yan pa lang ung ilang topics na gusto ko malaman.. P1k to 2K lang sana, hihi! thumbsup

Thank you for the responses.

The reason why I envisioned a one-day only workshop is that: first, I can only be in Manila for three to four days. And I am very much preoccupied with office work whenever I go to Manila. I thought I may be able to squeeze in a day to conduct a workshop. This will probably change of course if I could invite other professionals to help out in the workshop.

CG is a broad discipline and it will be very very difficult to cover everything in a day or even in three days.

For compositing - it can only be AE because it is the most common and the cheapest, apologies to the kettle but Combustion (which is nearing phase out), Toxic and Smoke is more studio-cenered and the cost is beyond the reach of the common tao. And of course - I do not use them and I cannot discuss something that I have no experience of.

While it will revolve around 3DSMAX and VRAY of course - the idea I believe can be applied with whatever application you use.

If I am able to get sponsorship from the software dealers, things might change a little bit. Who knows I might be able to entice them to demo a few of the applications mentioned above.

Please keep the ideas coming, it would be difficult to devise a lesson plan without knowing what people actually need to know.

I am avid fan of Richard Rosenmann although I am not in a position to dissect his works - I believe that yes - rosenmann look is of course possible and can be done. If he can do it - so can you.

The idea about the workshop is just something I thought about yesterday - and I haven't thought about it as a grand event or something. Of course everything might change depende sa outside help na makukuha ko.

As for accomodation. Libre ka sa hotel ko Smile Sama mo lang si leslie! (biro lang!)

If you wanted to go into film-making - you need to learn to composite if you want to do it on your own.

Tungkol naman sa skedyul. Well, I go to Manila 3 or 4 times a year. My next trip na sigurado ay around second week of December although I am thinking of squeezing one if my work skeds permit before December perhaps sometime in October.

As for next year - siguro Pebrero pero hindi ko pa alam ang exact dates. The fees will always be for free as long as I can personally manage it. I only ask to get ideas how much would be cheap enough to entice everyone to participate and at the same time be able to pay for the possible venues - actually I only thought about doing it in my office pero it cannot accomodate 15 or 20 more persons. So if the future developments on this activity demand a much bigger space and some equipments, then that means somebody's got to pay for them. If there will be sponsors willing to accomodate the costs - then the problems half solved.

Goodluck to all of us!

Goodluck with your filmamaking ventures but in the process - focus as well on max and vray if possible, it will help you a lot when you find the need to composite your own renders.

I think even if you are a beginner you can learn a lot from the topics being planned here. But of course - it will be your responsibility to learn the basics of 3dsmax. Without those - the intermediates and more advanced topics will bore and hurt you like a hammer hitting your own head.
