My suggestions:
1. Vray Light facing sidewards...
2. Vraylight material applied on a plane
3. Post-processing in Photoshop using Dodge tool...
Re: HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY RENDERINGS?
Where exactly did you placed the lights/vraylights? Please post a wireframe rendering.

You used Vray Lights then...rotate facing side ways...
Re: HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY RENDERINGS?
I cannot say whether the direction of the lights can make your renderings look beautiful but definitely they are facing the wrong way. You won't get much light when it points to infinity.
Facing them sideways as kurdapya mentioned (and placing them inside the gaps if you have one) will push the illumination out of the space out.
Another way to position them is is to make them encompass the ceiling and point down, pointing the arrows to the ground. Of course that would be fakery for the purpose of directly shooting illumination to where it is needed most.
I'll try the first one first if I were you.
