Re: How can we reverse the trend?
How I wish we could stay back home. But what my wife and I earn now is what keeps us afloat in this current economic situation.
This is the sad truth.
This is the sad truth.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
hmmm.. maybe if we change the Philipine president ... and all of those NOT SO USEFUL government officials ...
create lots of jobs ... from a simple taga pulot ng poo-poo ng pet, to community cleaner, to employing vast number of service crews . among others are , of course trash collector..
maybe... just maybe it will reverse the sorry economy of the Philippines.
bawasan ang mga corrupt .. from policemen to government officials..
less crime pag madaming work ..
and please .. stop your president sa pangarap nyang monarchy government.. (i just heard). kce hindi pinoy ang magiging king ..
How i wish Marcos is still ruling our country..
dun u ever wish that???
i do .. i love Philippines.. but i also call Singapore my second home ..
malinis.. hindi ako ginagalis palagi .. he he he

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
You then have to vote me for president, no?
Just kidding.
Thanks your for the kind responses.
Seriously now, I think it is about time to forget the government - they aren't in the mood and they aren't willing to change the pattern. If you want change in the people who run the government - do not vote for patronage. Do not vote for people who have vested interests in power. Tell your family the same thing.
So what can we do as individuals? How can we, people who live outside of the Philippines contribute to realizing such a dream?
1. Make your momma proud. Do your work will all diligence. make your employers feel proud and his business safe with you as an employee. Gain their trust and confidence.
2. Excel. Do your best and be number 1. Forget what they told you in grade school. Mabuhay ang pinoy? No... Mabuhay ang magaling! That's it. Forget our flawed interpretation of nationalism. Kung gusto mong makasama doon - always exert your best effort in all that you do and in the process do not pull your peers Kababayan man o hindi down. Pull them UP!
3. Save. Do not flaunt wealth lalo na kung hindi mo inani. Learn to save for a better tomorrow. Teach the same thing to your kids, sisters at sa lahat ng umaasa sa iyong padala.
4. Learn from the experiences of your hosts abroad, learn new skills from them. Adapt their good culture, dispose off the bad ones and compare them with yours. Become the new Filipino of the new century. Be a product of two cultures. That makes you wiser. Once you learn, spread the knowledge like wildfire. Di mo madadala sa libingan yan - just like your new celfone, new car and all those wealth you think you must let the world know about. True wealth is knowledge, friend and family!
5. Respect your elders. Follow the rules. If you can follow rules in the Americas, Singapore or in the Middle East - you can do it at home as well. Set an example to your kids, siblings, family, relatives or friends. Be nice to your hosts lalo na yong may control at kapangyarihan to farm out the jobs to you. kakailanaganin mo sila balang araw.
Kung magawa mo ang lahat ng ito - at time mo nang umuwi, mayroon kang backup at pabaon na tiwala ng isang masaya na banyagang beneficiary - you can always bring the skills and their trusts (and jobs) back home.
Sa ayaw man at sa gusto mo we need the help of the outside world.
The bottomline is: Be diligent, we thrustworthy, Save your earnings and become a good future employer at home.
Yan muna.
Just kidding.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
even we heard and saw the bad notions on our country.
but still some of us have hopes that it will be irreversible.
we know its hard to start eating the pie as a whole piece,
i believe by starting bits by bits hopes could be pull off on each sleeves.
though millions seek for green pasture around the globe,
but still there dreams were set on their own footland.
and besides, i dont want to get old working in other country
like cows milking for honey.hehhehe.
just start it on ourselves.for our family the most.
work smart.live to the fullest.
i agree all the posts above.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
For me- there is still hope:) matagal nga lang na process. I agree also in necessity of having a good leaders to lead the nation.. but I think the most important is the citizen- all of us must change ourselves first. ... so kaya mag-ipon na ng mag-ipon at magtayo ng business or firm sa pinas at umuwi na kagad for good hehe

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
Officer. parang pinatawad nalang yata. Asus buhay.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
irreversible...
OFW's remittances keeps Phil economy afloat... it generates the biggest income for the gov't, bigger than all the businesses in the Phil combined... kung tutuusin kayang bumangon ng bansa sa kahirapan...
Kaso, corruption is already a part of Phil. politics and it has become a way of life na... di na nagrereklamo ang ordinaryong pinoy kase nasanay na... at wala ring magagawa... cge magreklamo ka at baka di ka bigyan ng serbisyo... kalabanin mo yung kurap na politiko at baka pulutin ka nlng sa kangkungan...

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
ambilis ninyong sumuko.
If the subconscious tells you, you can't, It's like telling yourself you won't. Don't try to fix the problem in its entirety, focus on what you can do on your own, on your own resources, on your own time. If millions like you do the same thing - its like fixing the whole problem just the same.
The reason why the Philippines is in its sad state - because people have given up hope.. or just plain indifferent.
I have enumerated some of the things that you can possibly do - add to that your own ideas and I am sure you will have an effective policy much better than that of the government.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
wala pong sumusuko sir vertex...
in fact yung mga pinoy (di kasali ang mga politiko at mga corrupt sa gobyerno) are just focus on doing things on their own, their own resources, on their own time... kaya nga nagiging DH, OFW etc yung iba, may mga nangangalkal ng basura para lang makaraos sa pangaraw-araw... people have Not given up hope... they're neither indifferent... di na po sila umaasa sa gobyerno natin...

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
i think di naman sumusuko ang mga pinoy sa point ni sir silvercrown it just that di na focus ng mga pinoy(na hikahos) sa pagbabago kundi ang makasurvive...the first step of changes is to survive first...pero sa part naten na ok naman ang pamumuhay kahit papano pede tayo ang magsimulan ng pagbabago.

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
(hindi kasama ang bakasyon lang) kayo ba ay nakikilahok sa pagboto? come to think of it, we as ofw keep on saying na kung sana may magandang opportunity lang sa pinas e dun na tayo magwowork, but is it really the only reason kaya tayo nagwork sa ibang bansa? or the craving to live in other countries with all the benefits we can have while staying? being an ofw, like no tax, high salaries, security & safety... etc... etc...

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
we cannot only blame the government how we sucks nowadays.. politics, local media, economics, church and every "juan" of us is involve in this system of the down we live in, it still dog bit dog tale, why we always making this temporary escapegoats everytime we are squared off, we are also part of this so-called crime.
hope will always be here and will be there, though change is not instant, it may lightyears away, but some do believe miracle do happen.. but not today.
in the end of the day, we can ask ourselves, did we do our part to change that system? as simple as it is, did we ever pay our taxes fair? did we not cheat on our office time? did we try not to do simple white lies??

Re: How can we reverse the trend?

Re: How can we reverse the trend?
" Thou shall not eat the fruit if you shall eat of it you shall die!" its clear mga bro our supreme being has given as the option to do or not to do ,He has given his part 90 percent 10 percent lng sa atin ..if we have absolute faith it might change !like tita cory who showed us the sample of unwavering faith...even by her death we pinoys are re-united by her strong will to change...we need a heart like CORY ... kaya we have to be wise kung sino ngayon pipiliin natin.. it should have cory's character...nice one sir wrangler ...its sad and its a 360 deg turnover ...it still depends sa atin yun.."to eat or not to eat"to do or not to do..to be responsible or not ..
