For me bro kilala ang Filipino sa pagkopya (para tayong chinese, buti pa ang chinese merong sariling alphabeto at way ng pagsulat) kaya for sure lahat ng makikita mong structure sa Pinas ay combination of foreign cultures at walang authentic na Pinoy Architecture. It's a myth imho. Even the bahay-kubo... it doesn't originated from Pinoys...

agree po sir, at kung ikukumpara natin sa neighboring countries like vietnam, etc. etc.. meron din naman silang mga structures na parang bahay kubo.. Ang nasa satin kasi ung "COLONIAL MENTALITY" kaya kung ano yung maganda na nakikita natin na galing sa labas, ginagaya din natin... Still,hinahanap pa rin kung ano, o mayron ba talagang Philippine Architecture..

Good day mga bro, I think there is one design na tatak ng mga Filipino and it is called the "BORLOLOY", makikita natin to sa loob at labas ng ating mga bahay, sa mga jeep at tricycle sa kalye, as well sa mga events at sa mga fiestas. don't you think it is one of ours?

heres a simple answer - A FILIPINO DESIGN IS ANYTHING THAT IS DESIGNED BY A FILIPINO
we are living in a world that almost all styles are invented, we cannot reinvent the wheel. styles can be modern, minimalist , resort, retreat, metropolitan, postmodernism, zen, deconstruction, industrialist, classical, neoclassical etc... just to name a few. In my designs I always try to be unique but the style or mood will always fall under either one of this categories. I will not agree that filipino designers are copying its only that filipino designers are world class, you can find them in singapore, taiwan, china, US or in any part of the world there is always a filipino designer designing something. enuff said.

wat im trying to say is if for example ur gonna create something more like a movie, a film, or an animation (2d or 3d) what makes it filipino?? Na kpag nakita ng ibng bnyaga or any foriegn countries mla2man kagad nila na filipino to... much like kpag cnabing anime., alm n kaagad ntin n galing un o nag originate un sa japanese., un mga ganung thing., does incorporating a bhay kubo or something like mga dating archi na filipino mismo gumwa., o mga tradisyon at nkaugalian etc.. makes it more filipino??

Or if we are still in the middle or rather starting to create our own style in art where would you possibly start?? sa Bhay kubo?? sa Philippine Natives?? Traditions ?? Cultures?? where in sa mga nbasa q nung unang threads at ung threads dati., my halo n tlga., san tau huhu2got kung ang pinaghuhu2gutan ntin ay hindi pla sariling atin?? Mejo confused aq.,

p2loy lang ang buhay., gwa na lng tau ng designs/animations based sa mga different approaches to realities; minimalism, post modernism., post apocalyptic, impressionism, etc...etc., anything that falls to that categories?? at gawing unique n lng., flipino nman gumwa e., filipino na yan ganun po ba un?? Panu po kpg nmatay na ung gumwa nun na filipino panu mla2man o mare2cognize na flipino nga ung design/archi/animation., sa credits?? panu kpag wlang credits??

pag filipino style kasi kanya kanyang interpretation ang mga tao jan.....
just remember when you want to design a filipino inspired design just look back to the architecture of our natives...dun ka makakakuha ng idea......then reevaluate mo nalang yung mga ideas gathered mo kung what would really fit as "filipino" design.

ancient Japanese culture is derived from Chinese culture but if you go to japan today, their current lifestyle is generated from the pop culture of the west... pero kahit ganun unique pa rin sila at meron silang sariling identity...

bakit tayong mga pinoy di ba natin kaya yon? imho kulang tayo sa APPRECIATION at nagco2ncentrate lang tayo sa useless intelligence kaysa creativity... kaya wala tayong original identity... imho lang

sir i agree with what you said...... i think ang pinaka reason kung bakit hindi tayu makapagbuild ng sariling identity natin eh dahil sa thinking ng mga pilipino na ang mga western people are far much greater and more superior than our race...
jan mo makikita yung pagtangkilik ng mga kapwa nating pilipino sa mga western products, architecture, lifestyle and much more.
Buti nga ngyung generation na natin eh hindi na gaano katindi ang thingking na yun..........dun ako bilis sa mga hapon eh...hindi nila tinangap na mas superior ang mga kano kesa sa mga hapon...hindi tulad sa pinoy konting suyo lang kano kumagat na agad.
Makikita nga natin until now na malakas parin ang kapit ng mga kano sa leeg nating mga pilipino.....siguro kasi nasa 3rd world nga tayu hindi tulad ng japan na nakikipagsabayan sa mga kano..

Best answer for me. Yes! Architecture is merely a reflected or appreciation of local culture.

Same as our SEAsian neigbhors Thailand and Indonesia ( Bali), they just reflected culture and local arts/crafts in their architecture, the most important thing we should do, that is why they are more famous than us.

Bobby Manosa started this crusade few decades ago, but very few believed him. Now we have no strong foundation of our local Architecture, that could have been the basis for this thing called Pinoy Architecture.

Instead, we became just merely "copycats" of whoever is famous abroad. I don't believe that once done by a Filipino, it is a Filipino design, if tangible and intangible cultural factors were not inlcuded.
