Re: error in opening my 3d max file?
Hello Jovanie,
Di ko maintindihan kung bakit kailangan hindi magmeshsmooth at highlights. The problem will only occur if you have a substandard pc or a low-range graphics board. One tip if you have meshsmooths is to have them turned OFF in the viewports but ON during rendering. You can do this automatically by right-clicking the modifier and selecting OFF IN VIEWPORT.
As for why I did not understand why meshsmoothing should be turned off - perhaps its a different experience for you and an isolated one. Unless I know the situation I might not be able to help solve that particular problem.
Even so, that might need it's own particular thread.

Re: error in opening my 3d max file?
Ah when you said smooth and highlights - yo uwere referring to the viewport shading display, right?
Pagkabasa ko kasi you were referring to smoothing and speuclars (highlights). Apologies to the thread starter.
Anyways, your particular problem might be caused by the display driver. Next time - if your graphcis board is indeed top of the line - update the drivers. You can select the display driver then - OPENGL/Direct 3D or simply software z-buffer which is foolproof.
