astig, welcome home monmarc. sana monmarc pa din gamit mo. haha.
About sa network rendering, i think kailangan mo lang paganahin ang backburner. I think mas madali na to ngayon. although di ko pa natry. good luck! sana may magreply din na nakatry na.

Welcome monmarc, ano ang gusto mong gawin?
Gusto mo bang magrender sa sa ibang computers or do you want to batch render sa machine mo?
Whichever you choose, you'll be needing to setup backburner properly like Neil mentioned.
tell me kung nasa anong step ka na and whate error you're getting.
Neil, nawala yong thread ni sweetie pie - nong nangyari kaya?

I've had my fair share of troubleshooting network rendering in 3ds max as well and I'll try to help out in any way that I can.

sa tingin ko sir dapat ata pareho yung mga specs ng pc at dapat meron po kayong network folder kung saan nakalagay yung mga materials na gagamitin nyo.

Re: Question for Network rendering for 3dmax 2009?
It is of course ideal to have slave servers (rendering machines) of the same specs. Although the difference can sometiems be misniscule, difference in cpus, speed, can cause problems specially if you are rendering precision intensive processes like particles, simulations, etc.
As for the network folder na binaggit ni callow, there should be a common folder for all materials or assets that each slave can access to. This can be a separate network drive or a drive in one of the slaves.
Read the backburner entry in the help files. All you need to know is there.

Re: Question for Network rendering for 3dmax 2009?
I would also like to add that 64bit versions of max can submit both 64bit or 32bit render jobs to the render manager but not the other way around. So there would be no problem if in case you do have a mixture of 64s and 32s in your farm.
As for the specs of the machines, slow render slaves doesn't really hurt much in backburner but I've seen some differences when you do Vray distributed rendering.

Do you mean sending 32 bit jobs to 64-bit slaves or sending 32 bit jobs to a mixture of 32-bit and 64 bit slaves?
Re: Question for Network rendering for 3dmax 2009?
What I meant was a 64-bit machine has an option to send a render job as a 32bit render task for 32bit slaves. 32bit machines does not have the option to send to 64bit slaves.
Re: Question for Network rendering for 3dmax 2009?
Actually it does.
The Network Job Assignment dialog defaults to 32-bit servers but if you check the Advanced Tab below the dialog, select submit as a 64-bit job, all available 64-bit slaves will appear in the server list.
You just can't mix 32 and 64 bits slaves when sending jobs from 32 bit machines.
