Hi guys.. share ko lang.. para sa mga kagaya kong beginner sa Vray Very Happy .
I compiled 3 articles from web about "linear workflow".. Di ko pa na-try & nabasa lahat to kasi nagaaral palang din ako ng Vray, hehe basa basa lang muna study . na-encounter ko lang ung term "gamma" while reading Help. so i got curious.. Anyway, mukhang good reference din naman...

Neil. baka pwedeng pakilipat na alng all these LWF talk don sa LWF poll. There'S a lot of introductory info there and I'll probably reply there again as well. Para di nakakalito. At sa magpo-post pa about LWF please make a search first and lets concentrate them in one location para di putol putol ang info.

Assuming you have the set Max's Gamma/LUT properly, you burn the gamma in the color mapping rollout to 2.2; or leave it to linear at 1.0 then save the ouput file to 2.2

You do not do gamma correction in vrayfb. The last icon to the right below the framebuffer allows you to correctly see the result in srgb.

Vray Linear Workflow (Gamma Correction) Empty lwf

Post by ARKIRON Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:58 am

Mga masters, gumagamit na ko ng LWF, yung method na sa gamma correction sa preferences set sa 2.2, input 1.0, output 1.0, tapos add ako color correct material sa diffuse map slots (pati sa diffuse slots ng procedural textures?). Do I need to add color correct sa bump at displacement maps? Sabi kasi sa ibang tutorials e since hindi colored ung bump and displacement maps, no need to gamma correct it. Ano ba talaga?

The best thing to do is leave the input to 2.2. THat way all bitmaps you feed max will be recognized automatically as such. The color correct addition is already obsolete. You do that or use Color Correction Map with Gamma 2.2 if your preferences remain Input 1. As I mentioned - just hit it directly where it hurts, simplify by using an input of 2.2 and there you go - no more color correction thing when loading bitmaps.

You only override this when using floating point bitmaps such as HDRI or normal maps. The bumps depend on whether they are jpegs which should be treated like I mentioned, no more color correcting if the Gamma Preferences says the Input Bitmap is already 1.

I think the confusion lies in so many posts that somehow read like they should be done at all.

The LWF posts here should be trimmed somehow.

@v_wrangler

sir...question...

nag HDRI ako na settings...nilagay ko yung HDRI for my material slot

tapos ang gamma nya is 1.0 which is kapag tiningnan ko na siya sa preview..malinaw na siya..hindi overbright..

then yung color mapping ko is set all to 1.0 sub pixel mapping, affect background..

pero yung settings ko with HDRI for exterior was originally from sir arkibons...

hindi ko lang magets..bakit sobrang overbright siya...: ( please help...ty in advance..gusto ko kasi matuto...wahh
