Vrayfur is the best eyecandy next only to Displacement, it brings realism to carpet fur and realsits grass strands
pero downside is the amount of burden sa render time... napansin ko lang mababa yung load ng CPU ko pero memory resource hog everytime?

- is there a solution to lessen the render time against Vrayfur? whats essential and what a no-no

- is there a trick to taper the end segments of the fur, something like an organic fur?

- how to make irregular yung strands ng fur (furry fabric strands, foam strands, etc.) or ma-inherit nya yung vray material from the subject object up to it fur strands..

- san ba tayo dapat weary if we are using Vrayfur? recommended ballpark settings? memory hog settings?

- is it possible na maging dynamic objects (via Vrayproxy) yun object na may Vrayfur?

thanks cgp/3dp peeps, hopefully newbies can share your insight with this topic.. medyo dillema ko na din since yesterday and wala akong ma-goggle sa web na information about this topic..

sorry for the late replies
- so far sa rendering time ng vray fur, konti lang puede natin iadjust. try to uncheck the flat normals if you dont need a cylindrical fiber for your vray fur. you may lessen also the knots kung hindi naman kailangan

- theres no other way to taper fur segments unlike hair and fur. but you can make a tweak making them thin and thick strands by providing materials on the map slot of thickness

- you can play on the materials slot of the vray fur to make an irregular strands. make some materials on the lenght map....

-

- not sure yet with these making it dynamic via vray proxy. i create a model before with vray fur, then make it mesh export for proxy thing. di nag-attach iyong fur sa object. di tulad ng hair and fur na pueding isama sa vrayproxy.

FYI, Sp2 has a taper function.

While you cannot taper the geometry in previous versions - you could SIMULATE the look by applying a gradient ramp to the opacity of the material. Just change the mapping from UV to WU.
