Music for the Fame and money or just for Fun?

I'd rather play for fun, than play for fame or money. Those things will just follow in due time. Mahirap kasi pag iniisip mo na dapat sumikat ka or magkapera ka, kasi, nalilimit mo ang sarili mo, specially if you are into creating original music. Ang resulta, nawawala ang sincerety minsan, at nagiging regimental ang tunog mo.

I'd rather be not super famous, but highly respected in the scene, than one who is famous, but is dissed by people in the rock music scene. Marami niyan sa pinas, mga tipong, di nag-gi-gig, tapos biglang susulpot lang na parang kabute, tapos may album na at may music video pa, pero, di mo man lang nakitang tumugtog sa music scene na ginagalawan ng banda niya. Kawawa naman tong mga magagaling at 10 yrs na mahigit humahataw, pero di nabibigyan ng break sa industry. Ang siste kasi, magsusubmit ng demo sa label, tapos, pipilitin ilabas yung musika, without resorting to paying their dues (gigging, becoming part of a legit music community, i.e., alternative scene, indie scene, punk scene, metal scene, building a decent fan base), tapos para makasigurado, babayaran ang label, malabas lang yung music. Syempre, yung mga matagal-tagal na sa scene, eh, napapakamot nalang sa ulo sabay "sino ba tong INSERT NAME OF BAND HERE, na biglang nasa number 1 na sa love radio? di naman natin nakitang nag gig to ah"...at ang resulta insults from different sides of the parties involved.

Ako kasi, I patronize a band na nababasa ko sa PULP magazine (ooppss, plugging na to), at syempre, mga nababasa ko sa forums, like sa philmusic..kasi once mapansin ka dun...at wala ka pang album, that means your band is probably creating something fresh and interesting. I usually try to check them out, lalo pag medyo malakas sila sa rock scene. I mean, eto ang mga dapat suportahan, kasi, inspite of the fact na walang pera sa music sa pinas, tuloy-tuloy pa rin sila. At pag recognize ka naman sa scene, yung fan base mo, magiging atat na ilabas or maglabas ka ng recording mo. And that is good marketing, make them impatient for an album, at once naglabas ka na, sigurado, madaming bibili nyan.

Kaya, i would rather follow the footsteps of sir chickoy pura, idol chad robles, or the late dondi ledesma...di sila famous at mayayaman, but highly respected in their respective music scenes, from the dawn, to rico blanco, to ely buendia, yan sila, tinitingala nila yung mga mentioned names na yan. Kasi, kahit di sila famous or even if they are not earning that much, they still persevered and kept the rock n roll flame burning, because of that undying passion for the music, and because they simply enjoyed the music.

Yun ang gusto ko...actually if ako nagbanda, simple lang pangarap ko:

1. mafeature sa PULP magazine (dahil pag napansin kayo ng mga staff nila, ibig sabihin, ok talaga music mo, regardless of genre)

2. Makatugtog sa fete dela musique, isang malaking music festival (ganun din, pag invited ka dito, recognized na ang grupo niyo sa music scene ng banda mo)

3. Makatugtog sa Summer Slam. (malay mo, masign kayo ng label. yung kamikazee, sa summer slam nakita ng mga record execs, at dun nila nakita na malakas ang hatak sa tao, kaya nasign sila.)

Pag may fan base ka talaga sa scene...ang label ang lalapit sa yo, at pag label lumapit sa yo, di ka na gagastos sa recording at promotion ng album mo, sila talaga magsisikap para dyan, dahil sila ang lumapit sa yo.

aimen parin ako jan sir,,,Yung makapag Performe nga lang sa SummerSlam kahit yun lang,,sobrang saya ko na siguro nun,,,tapos malapatan ko lang ng tunog lahat ng mga naisulat ko ayus na,,,tapos kakantahin mo yun pag me inuman,,,o kaya pag nag away kayo ng syota mo,,hehehe

Going back to the topic:

Mas masarap ang feeling pag ang iniisip mo lang, makatugtog ng maayos, at kung may financial reward man, yung tamang di ka pinilit na tugtugin yung ayaw mo para lang magkapera ka.

Mas the best pa rin, when you just play and have some fun, without thinking much about getting famous, or earning a record deal.
