nice work on your animation pre. but it still needs more tweaks... yung key poses di ganun ka solid, also overlapping is needed sa head habang paangat pa cya. try holding that extreme pose a bit longer pra maganda impact pag baba nung kamay and final pose is a bit weird specially yung kaliwang kamay which is floating and can be considered a broken joint na.

cheers inuman na

You know sometimes it helps to make your trajectories visible when you animate. That way - you'd see where the object goes in extreme poses.

Right now it looks like an amateur puppeteer is puling up the parts by the strings. It doesn't look like its moving on its own. Lifeless.

Like what everyone says - you need to make the KEY POSES visible (by holding it a few frames) to make that animation READABLE.

KEY POSES:

For a single action to be effective - try to break that down to at least three states:

1. before the action (to anticipate what the character is about to do)

2. the action (in your case the hand landing on the table)

3. the after thought (the action after no. 2, you can do this by showing the effect on his immediate body parts or surroundings . follow throughs,

I made a very quick sketch of the idea above:

There are many ways to make something move. For character animations, I always use POSE to POSE.

This process involves creating the main poses first (in the example above its No. 1, 2 and 3)

And allowing the computer create the automatic in-betweens first (not relying!). You just make adjustments in frames where you'd need them.

Some people try to animate in a linear fashion - meaning they start at frame 1 and go on to to the last from there. While this might be fine for some - it will be a pain to adjust timing later specially when you have lots of keys in there.

Your first pass should have only the key poses in there and when you've nailed the basic timing, thats the only time to polish and slide the keys a bit to get rid of the robot look.

Remember in animation, no object should move in a straight line, and neither do objects move at the same time! (unless it is mechanical)

You are welcome! I look forward to seeing more of your animations.

To harness your skill and grasp of timing. I'd recommend you start first with the basics:

1. Bouncing balls
2. Walk cycle.

Then move on to more character specific moves.
