Boomzap Entertainment, a leading casual games developer, together with CG Pinoy present the first ever

Boomzap Art Challenge Philippines!

We’re looking for the most imaginative, most beautifully realized scene utilizing a Philippine landmark - we’ll be judging based on creativity, originality, and most of all, quality of execution.

We’re challenging participants to create a fantasy journey scene using epic Philippine landmarks and populate it with at least one character. Your scene can be anywhere you can imagine, and your character(s) can be a person, animal, monster, robot... or whatever you can imagine.

Rules and Mechanics:
1. The challenge is open to all CGP Member. If you are not a member yet click here to register.
2. Create your own thread, name it as username-title ( sample Juan: Ang nuno sa punso )
3. Post your sketch / ideas to start your thread. Post WIPs (work in progress) on a regular bases. There must be a minimum of 4 WIPs submitted - sketches, rough outline, color flat, finalizing, detailing - and a maximum of 10. No WIPs entries will be automatically disqualified.
4. The artwork must be in landscape with a canvas size of 16:9; canvas size 1897x1067
5. Create a 2D environment art, you must use an epic Philippine landmark and place at least 1 character in it but the main focus of the art must be the environment itself.
6. The theme is up to you - you can go with fantasy, dark ages, middle ages, post apocalypse, zombie breakout, anything that you want.
7. We will judge based on art, composition, creativity, details, and originality.
8. If you use any references, attach those images to your WIPs
9. No vector art or pixel art.
10. No fan art.
11. Only one submission/entry is allowed per CGP member.
12. You are allowed to use any 2d software.
13. Any artwork that contains any vulgar images or offensive material will be disqualified at the discretion of the CGP admins and the judges.
14. Any artwork submitted past the deadline will be disqualified.
15. Contest participants must be either a Philippine citizen or Permanent Resident to qualify for the contest. Prizes will be remitted via bank wire transfer.

Deliverables:

1. Submit your first WIP (i.e. concept+sketch) on or before February 15, 2014, otherwise it will be disqualified.
3. Final Submission date will be February 28, 2014 midnight ( Philippine Time)

The Judges:
The panel will include 3 top creatives from Boomzap, including Creative Director and co-founder Christopher Natsuume, as well Karen Manalastas, and Edwin Sablaya who are veteran Boomzap artists.

Criteria for Judging:

The artwork will be judged based on originality, composition, and execution. We’re not just looking for people who have great ideas, but people who can use their craft and skill to truly bring that idea to life.

Prizes:
There will be 2 prizes - $350 USD will be awarded for the 1st prize winner and $150 USD will be awarded to 2nd prize winner.

Note: Boomzap Entertainment makes no claim to the ownership of any submission to the contest, nor does it claim any right or responsibility to use, promote, or publicize any artwork entered in the the competition. All works remain under the absolute ownership/copyright of the creator. All entrants agree that all works will have been created in their entirety by the entrant, and that they own the copyright to those works.

Digital bro. any 2d software. eg. photoshop. painter. no vector.

may time bago ka makapagpost bro. after that time, pwede na. upload ka ng image sa photobucket or imageshack, then icopy mo ang image link dito. good luck sa entry!

I think walng problem pag blocking or at least base design. Basta ang output is a 2d art.

i think this is a digital painting contest. pwede mo namn i color sa photoshop yung pencil sketch mo. kung marunong ka sa traditional malamang kaya mo din mag digital.

Mga Mods,

Clarify ko lang po, kasi epic landmarks natin yung mga natural wonders. Ok lang po ba kung architectural landmarks? Like MET, Manila City Hall, Intramuros, Lion's head, etc.

I'd go for Lion's Head. You can use any of what you've mentioned but make sure it's of "EPIC" caliber. The landmark will greatly affect the final output.

We have extended the deadline for wip to January 23, 2014 due to cgp's posting requirement for new members of 7 days after registration. You just need to registed on or before January 15, 2014 to be able to post an image or a link on the 22nd onwards. Good luck!
