laptop hunt in need of help

hi i have been looking for a good laptop for a long time use.
firstly i have this 2 laptops in mind, the alienware m14x and asus g55vw-rs71
both units have almost the same specs except for the asus g55vw-rs71 that has a 32gb max ram.

asus has:
i7 3610qm
nvidia gtx 660 2gb
and 8gb - 32gb max ram (max ko na agad siya)
15"
but the yung ayaw ko lang sakanya is meron siyang num lock
around $1300
with alienware:
almost same
diverent nvidia graphics 2gb
i think 8gb max or 12gb
14"
no numlock but too blingy, for gaming talaga ang dating.

btw, ill use this mainly for 3d works, sketch up and other rendering programs ( soon to explore as for now, podium @ mac gamit ko, nahihirapan na kasi mac ko kapag madami na laman yung sketchup, it slows my work )
and laptop ang need ko because ill use this to present sa mga clients ko, kaya na down ako sa blingy alienware, atleast yung asus maganda siya by looks.

now, can you guys tell me if good buy na yung asus or meron kayong mga rerecommend na good laptop that i can keep ng 5-10 years. my mac is about 5 years old na and will be used personally pag may bago nang work laptop. thanks cgpinoy

If you are a serious 3d pro, go for desktop and use your old mac for presentation. Lalo't you wanted it for a long time.
Laptop is not upgradable compare sa desktop.

Actually any of the 2 will do. parehong magaganda! mabibigat nga lang din.

i wanted to buy desktop actually but my mac is about to retire so i would need something portable, and yes sir bokkins mabigat nga daw yun mga yun pero its not going to be a problem since i wouldn't use public transportation pag dadalin kung san san. pareho po maganda but is the 32gb max ram better or ok na yung 8/12gb

Hi sir presto. meron akong alienware, m17x nga lang. nag try ako maginstall ng 3dmax kaso nagkakaroon ako ng problema sa pag run, update ko sainyo performance once na naging ok na. downside lang nia eh mabigat pero powerfull, in games. hehe..

sir herald looking at the specs almost same siya sa g55 only its 17" compared sa 15" although 15" ok na rin, 13" nga lang yung mac ko pero solve na.. did you max the ram na up to 32gb? and based on your location, singapore ko so dyan mo binili right? thanks paki update naman when you have free time.

Sir medyo mataas ata ang processor ko kesa sa g55. tama sir sa singapore ko sya binili customize sya. actually prefer ko na wag gamitin ang laptop for rendering kasi mabilis masira ang processor. siguro for modelling pwede. tara sesh tayo minsan! hehe. cge update kita.

i see customized na pala, sa site kasi 3610 din siya. mas mataas nga siya sa g55, nasa how much yung build mo sa ganyan specs? around 80-100k?
