VrayEmbree – Photo-Realistic Ray Tracing Kernels

VRayEmbree - Photo-Realistic Ray Tracing Kernels Wtv3d933

With everyone posting about Vrayembree we thought we’d give it a try
and see if it lives up to the hype! If you haven’t heard about it the
hype:-

The VRayEmbree helper is a V-Ray implementation of Intel’s Embree
raycaster (a collection of high-performance ray tracing kernels,
developed at Intel Labs).

It is specifically optimized for ray tracing on Intel CPUs and can
reduce render times with V-Ray. Speed-ups of up to 30% have been
observed in some scenes.

As you can see with Vrayembree off the rendertime is 11mins 2
seconds. With Vrayembree on 8mins 53 seconds. Tried also with Vrayembree
AVX only had a 1.1 second gain.

As mentioned you need a new intel cpu. sandybridge works as does new xeons. If you use cpuz you can check if your chip has AVX

So not quite a 30% speed increase on this scene, but a well worth install! thanks Intel and chaos group!

How it works: / Cpuz: / VrayEmbree:

Hope that will help.
