Re: Pig Interior
i'm a newbie sirs/masters,can somebody explain what makes this image good?coz i can see that the image without dof (1st image) loses a lot of details on the wall no bumps..(too bright maybe or it just plain smooth materials used?)and alittle noisy on the the seat's shadow ..these are my newbie comment...ignore me if i'm mistaken

Sir micoliver1226, nice observations; here's my take:
--the first image has a "hazy" atmosphere, hence less details or bumps are evident, ergo convincing image equals good render; detail don't always equate to a good render all the time..
--noise can sometimes add realism to a render, as in real life miniscule dust in the atmosphere will most certainly induce a level of noise in photographs; besides I like noise in my images, too clean images look CGish..
Hope that clears some of the issues you have..

Re: Pig Interior
Maybe I should expound on my comment re: design preference.
Concrete finishes are not limited to the rough, tadao ando styles. I prefer the smoothened concrete which is slightly closer to a plain wall look but the subtle detail of the grooves and surface is still evident (take a closer look at my wall here. It is not really plain as it seems. Will post the setting one of these days). Hence, I purposely didn't put any bumps.
Second, the noise in shadows. In photography, shadows do have noise. Unless you shoot at very low Isos, then as cloud pointed out, looks unreal..
As for the overall composition I was trying to focus on the 3 elements - the furniture themselves. And when I compose I usually allow a big deal of "neutral" zone or a large empty space in the scene. Hence, the big wall. I am not really a fan of filling up the entire space with elements, even plantation. I'm taking cue from Bertrand Benoit's compositions where he uses this same method of presenting an image.
Again, this my design and composition preference.

Re: Pig Interior
I didn't model the chair torvicz. That was from one of my libraries. I tried doing one but I stumbled upon this one, and it was much more accurate
