inside sketchup Pro : file--export--3D model--save with .3ds file extension
or when you're using 3ds max 2011 or 2012 version, you can import .skp file directly

you can only do that with SKechUp pro. SKetchup free. you cant.

but if you are using 3ds max 2010 you should get 3ds max connection extension to the autodesk site but this is not free
