Here's a simple PS tutorial on how to add the mist:

1 - Raw Image





2 - I rendered this image for easy masking via Colour Range selection











3 - New layer for the mist map






4 - Masking & Deleting











5 - Now, set the opacity of the mist map to 55%, blending mode = Lighten
