question using LWF Empty question using LWF

Post by kabumbayan Tue Sep 27, 2011 1:04 pm

Tanong lang at hingi na rin ng advice, nagpapractice lang gumamit ng LWF

nagtest render ako ng scene na may car with an HDRI as its GI using LWF and exponential para macompare ko yung dalawa.

ngayon, nagtataka ako bakit yung output ng LWF may lumalabas na noise, compared sa exponential na wala.

ito yung mga screenshot.

..using LWF saved as jpeg
question using LWF Lin

..using exponential also as jpeg
question using LWF Exp

..pag nilagay ko yung .exr sa ram player
question using LWF Ramplayer

..ginamit kong lwf settings
question using LWF Settings-1

last na, bakit pag nilagay yung .exr na output sa photoshop nagiging transparent at wala yung BG
question using LWF Openexr

maraming salamat!

it got to do with inadequate image sampling, i believe.
- try to increase adaptive dmc image sampler max subdivision by eights
- then, lower clr thresh value by halves [every time you increase the dmc max]
- also, see what happens when you set your IR nrm thresh at 0.1

for the hdri to show up in PS,
- main render output type should exclude the alpha. so, look for "RGB"

heyhey thanks a lot for the advice!,
the settings removed the weird (i dont know what its called) vector looking colors.
and i managed to save the output along with the background!

but I was still not able to remove the noisy parts on the car, my 2nd guess is the lack of sufficient illumination?

anyway salamat sa tulong madam

whose settings? the one you figured or the one i told you?

where exactly do you see the vector-looking colors? ahaha you meant the bluish color banding on the ground level?
yeah, you got pretty dim hdri - that's hdri right? you could increase its overall multiplier and render multiplier [mat. ed].
see if it brightens up. or change it altogether to something a little brighter? ahaha

then for the speckles, i suppose it also got to do with the catmull. see what happens if you got it off.
or perhaps use the mitchell [in between the sharpening and blurrying AA filters].

and then re the aforementioned settings, you have to increase gradually. say you start from 8 dmc max, 0.01 clr thresh
you then increase by eights, so that makes 16max and 0.005 clr thresh. 24max, and 0.002 clr thresh - so on and so forth.
hopefully, you need not increase it up to 56max.

you got low LC subdiv also. try to increase 1k to 2.5K

hmmm....if all else fails,
try to increase the subdivision globally. jump to settings and have 2? 3? or 4? dmc global subdiv
doing so, multiplies everything [lighting and materials] 2x,3x, 4x - and mind you - so does your rendering time.
it can also drive your max in a state of coma - then you guess it right - crash - if your memory could hardly handle it. Very Happy

lastly, when handling exr, a bunch of our cgpinoy folks advice us to use AE rather than PS.
