Re: how to model a stadium
Basahin mo lang ang 1st part ng paggawa ng kotse. Simple lang imodel to, kailangan mo lang matutunan ang poly-modeling. That's for the roof, the rest is normal box modeling nalang.
Search mo lang sa google ang how to mdel cars.

Re: how to model a stadium
would you want to model it in sketchup and then just open the skp file in max?
Re: how to model a stadium
base on your picture, bokkins suggestions is best to follow... start with a plane then sundan mo ang profile ng isang surface/part sa top tapos move the vertices to its positions sa top & elevations/sections. Structural frame can also be accomplished by the use of lines set to renderable and viewport... kung merong arte ang shape convert to poly mo tapos select edges then connect and move the vertices accordingly.
method number 2 naman ay pwedeng cylinder tapos bilangin mo kung ilan ang segments/hati ng roof, then remove the caps pati ung half portion (kasi mirror na lang after mo mailagay lahat sa tamang position ang vertices later). select edges then scale papasok hindi importante kung gaano kalapad kasi gagalawin mo pa rin naman yan. after you created a new polys pwede mo ng madelete ang height surface ng cylinder.
i hope you makatulong kahit walang illustrations.

Re: how to model a stadium
Access the level of detail that you want to achieve. low, medium or highly detailed model. Prepare reference file on your subject (plan, elevation & sections, etc).
Always start with the massing and work your way through the details.
You can find a lot of tutorials on the net regarding modelling. Take note that it is not how you manage to finish the model but how you properly execute it. It is very important that you start with a PROPER modelling tools and techniques. And as you go through. You will pick up speed and developed accuracy and complexity on your modelling.
"Polygonal modelling and hard Surface Technique". Start with this techniques. And I assure you in time that you'll be able to model anything ^^! well, except for brush and sculpt method.. hehehe

Re: how to model a stadium
Here is the one method.
1. create an elipse ( shape of the stadium), size varies, depends on your design.
2. Convert it to spline
3. Select the two end vertex and move it down
4. Then extrude it.
5. Apply Edit poly Modifier or convert it to poly, select polygon from the stack, select top and bottom surface of the model, then delete it.
Initial view after deletion
6. Select border from Edit poly modifier, select bottom perimeter line of the model
7. Go to top viewport and scale it ( going outward)
8. While still selected, on the keyboard hold Shift and move the border downward. this will give thickness.
9. Go to any side viewport, select element, select now your model. On modify, under geometry, select sliceplane. reposition the slice plane by hitting reset plane and move it to where you want to cut the model, hit Slice. This will give a straight cut to your model rather than moving it one by one.
10. Select again elements on poly edit modifier, select bottom parts. and delete it
...so here is the initial steps on modelling your stadium, tell me if its suffice your request or should i continue it.

Re: how to model a stadium
And here is my Sketchup workflow
sketchup plugins you can use
extrudeedgebyvector
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=331059#p331059
jointpushtool
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=6708&p=342359#p342359
After creating the rectangle, convert it to group, right click both group then hit intersect faces.
Delete all those unnecessary surface

Re: how to model a stadium
by the way download all the scripts of TIG with the "Extrude" titles.. very very important.. Joint push pull and also Cylinder or pipe along path...btw..Thnaks Onel.
