take the clown show for example, anticipation is the key. you know he's going to unleash a punchline anytime so focus on one interesting group of/or a kid. check meter first, test a shot, check histogram, check wb, speed good enough to freeze the subject?, isolation (dof) good? make sure your settings are good before the moment happens. you don't need to watch the clown, just play by ear. you should be ready to hit continous shots soon as they burst into laughter. composition for example can be established in an 'action-reaction' setting. the clown blurred slightly in the fore framing your main subject-kids in laughter.
in this given example or any shooting situation, exposure is first and foremost. if the given light is not enough to provide a good exposure, you have to be prepared to pop up a fill flash or establish another vantage point. avoid moving from one vantage to another if the lighting situation is too drastic. make subtle transitions, then the way you change your settings is minimized to only one or two buttons, then you will have consistency when you present your images as a set.

thanks Edmund! good to see you progress in greater heights as time goes. photography is the way forward. it'll change the way you visualize not only in stills but as well as in animatics

wow, very helpful tips master darkside... hehehe.. how about metering? di ko ginalaw ung default nya na matrix metering eh, does that vary in every situation? ung white balance ko "auto" palagi... dont know kung ano impact nun hehehe... and ung continuous shots parang helpful yun ha... (tapos mamimili lang ako nung right captured shot diba?) question though, when i move to another place, do i have to check or test shots then change settings if possible? naaah, dami questions sorry... thanks ulit sa big help dude darkness... much appreciated

Re: My First Photoshoot (@ a Kid's Party)
malaking bagay talaga ang continuous shots. kahit gaano ka kagaling mag anticipate may mga shots na nakapikit ang subjects o kaya naman for example blowing the candle moments, may mga shots na di nag illuminate ung candle sa mukha ng celebrant. di ko rin magets dati until i tried 8fps continuous bursts on my cam--mas maraming keeper shots na mapagpipilian.ERICK wrote:... and ung continuous shots parang helpful yun ha... (tapos mamimili lang ako nung right captured shot diba?) question though,
if you are already comfortable with the exposure meter on your viewfinder, di na kailangan. try to develop that confidence as you shoot para di na kailangan ng test shots. for me i will check shots preview every now and then for white balance and composition then histogram, highlights preview naman for exposure. pwede rin white balance set to auto (RAW) then sa post mo nalang i adjust. critical sa iyo yung composition dahil cropped ang nakikita mo sa viewfinder, unlike sa full frame na almost 98%.ERICK wrote:question though, when i move to another

not bad for a beginner, napaka tamlay lang ng kulay nung ibang image, over exposure din yung iba, makukuha naman sa practice yan..
